Subject: Deep striking landspeeder?

Hi everyone!
A few weeks ago I played a game against a ravenwing army including landspeeders and my opponent had them entering the game using the deep strike rules.
I haven't played landspeeder for a long time but I can't remember having seen the landspeeder could deepstrike. I've searched in the Rulebook and my DA codex and nothing. Was this point developped in a FAQ?
I need help on this point.

They have the deepstrike rules in my Spacewolf codex, I assumed it was the same for all chapters, although I could be wrong.

Land Speeders have the Deep Strike rule in Codex: Space Marines, too.

In Codex: Dark Angels, however, they don't.
Sammael's speeder can Deep Strike. Other speeders can't.

That is correct. Serves me right for skimming (hah!) through the original post.

Yeah, Dark Angels are the only ones that can't Deep Strike. I assume this would be because most of the Land Speeders are taken as part of a Ravenwing attack squad. This includes bikes that cannot Deep Strike. DA Codex pg. 27, "much like combat squads the attack squadron's Attack Bike and Land Speeder are purchased with the squadron and then deployed at the same time as the squadron's bikes..." So if you had one as part of a Ravenwing Attack Squad, a Deep Striking Land Speeder would allow things like the Land Speeder to Deep Strike while the bikes (using their Scout rules) Outflank. Also note that the Speeder does not have the Scout rule and therefore, I suppose, a squadron with one loses the rule and therefore cannot outflank (seeing as the squad must be deployed together). That last bit I'm not as sure about though.

"I have seen war in all its forms. I have seen feral world savages braining each other with stones and I have monitored the death of a whole planet at the hands of a virus bomb. I have seen Space Marines drop to certain death and win. I have seen Titans crush whole platoons underfoot.
But there is no more stirring sight in war than the charge of massed cavalry."

They're deployed at the same time... not together.
The speeder is a separate unit. It has no effect on the squadron's ability to outflank.

Actually, it does, per the GW DA FAQ:
Q: Can a Ravenwing attack squadron with a Landspeeder
in it, which has been held in reserve, use the Outflank
special rule? (p27)
A: No.

Which is a crazy ruling...
Since by the rules when the RAS deepstrikes then they have to be one unit. And you cant have a vehicle in a unit with bikes...
But then C A is not the best in being 5th compatable.

Aces... Alongside the "no Scout move turbo-boosting" thing another example of the "Elite" assault drivers of the Ravenwing being totally incapable of things all other Marine fast attack slots can do

Maybe it's just that the Ravenwing pilots are experienced enough to know that dropping from orbit in an open-cockpit light aircraft designed for ground-hugging flight isn't really a good idea?

I think the reason they can't deep strike is because last edition, any skimmer could choose to deep strike. They didn't need to have it printed in their rules. Every other marine book has been published since 4th ed came out (wait, I forgot about the Black Templar).

Nope, skimmers have never been able to deep strike by default.
