What Space Marine chapter(s) would possibly run with extra Dreadnoughts, e.g. in heavy support as well as elites?

I'm thinking Iron Hands, but there could be others.

The Little Sisters of the Apocalypse in the Triple EX! Road Show

The 10K Waagh!

Imperial fists would use extra heavy supports and elites.

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out.

Black Templars. They apparently number 7000-8000 marines, so they would be sure to have extra dreadnoughts and a lot of tanks. But also, Blood Angels have more Land Raiders than any other chapter.

We use Landraiders and have few dreadnoughts.

Those are the numbers the Inquisition KNOWS. The truth is probably different. In their codex it is rumored to be a lot bigger.

6000 is the only solid number we have.

Blood Angels can and sometimes do field a stupendous amount of Dreadnoughts.

Anyways, my point was that they are a lot bigger than most chapters, so you would think that they boasted a lot of Dreds and heavy tanks.

Iron Hands would as they venerate the Dreads.
Blood Angels can, as they got so many different types to field.
Space Wolves using their stored 100 Dreads maybe...
Black Templars are not updated yet, but may deem service as a dread as a personal goal to crusade eternally.

Yeah, but it's been 10.000 years.

But I think the Imperium has lost the tech to make new Dreds. Their number is either the same or smaller.

Its much smaller for 2nd founding chapters but for chapters like ultramarines and so on the dreads are the same.

A chapter that uses boltgun metal armor is a big plus. Iron Hands would do that, right? I have some vehicles that need to do double duty as SM Razorbacks and Chaos Rhinos. My Chaos are Iron Warriors.

Well no second founding would have a lot, but after that not so much.

I beg to differ. The UM, being the originators of the codex, would have been pretty fair in dividing up their legion. (Not to mention there would have been a LOT of very close oversight of how the legions were split up) So UM second founding chapters probably have very close to the same amount of original TDA and Dread numbers as they do. Now, since then? Yes the 'First Founding' chapters probably can throw that card down when dealing with the Mechanicus to get more new shiny stuff than other chapters. But my point is, that I would not automatically say that second founding chapters would have a significantly decreased amount of TDA and Dreads.

I imagine the amount of TDA and Dreads gets a lot smaller as the foundings continue on from there (3rd and later).

Actually, First Foundings with less successors, e.g the Salamanders, would likely have more, as they would have to give them up less.

That's exactly what I was saying, I think I phrased it poorly. 1st and 2nd have lots, 3rd+ have little.

Iron Hands have the lowest number of Dreadnoughts in the entire list of Astartes, like literally 5.
