Belial Grand Master of the Deathwing Order

Belial, the incumbent Grand Master of the Deathwing order. This model acts as the jewel in the crown of my Deathwing force and is atypical of the design principles I have used throughout the project.

Belial has been inspired by the classic artwork of Gabriel, the former grand master of the Deathwing Order (printed in the Angels of Darkness Codex). Whereas the Ultramarines have classic Roman and Greek influences, and the Blood Angels are paragons of Renaissance ideals, the Dark Angels have always had a Gothic sensibility to their aspect, inspired by medieval Europe.

For even more, full sized pictures of Belial, as well as analysis and thourough design notes please visit my blog here.

And of course, he gets his own Iphone contact:

You forgot Rites of battle in the special rules section lol.

I love the model, definitely a unique one, and your painting is fantastic. The small chips and weathering on the white are what really set it off I think.

In my cave, lying down and waiting for you...

The painting is nice and the model is certainly "unique", making it stand out perfectly. Good job

Couple of nitpicks, you missed the 'w' from the picture title and his profile says Thunder Hammer?

But cool model mate. Really good weathering and I like the more 'evil' look you've done. Abaddons body?

Need more 's in my life!

The main problem I see here is that it is based off the Failbaddon sculpt... which is wayyyyy too small in proportion

Excellent looking miniature. The conversions on the model are great and the added gothic detail really compliments the theme of the dark angels well. Definitely looks like there was much planning and consideration when assembling this piece. Great work!

@ Avatar form:

"Failbaddon sculpt..."

What exactly is 'fail' about the Abaddon sculpt? It's a fantastic miniature! A true classic from Jes.

"...which is wayyyyy too small in proportion"

In proportion to what?
My entire Deathwing collection
uses the old metal terminators. The scale is negligible against the newer plastics, but does look a lot more static. Belials scale isn't an issue with the army.

@ Element206: Cheers man. The planning stage is often my favourite part of the project.

@ Meanween and nightfall: Thank you both.

He looks more evil than I would imagine, but it still looks really awesome. I like the melted candles on the back, but maybe have a few larger ones to show what they are a littl ebit more clearly.

The white is very nice and i absolutely LOVE the sword. Keep up the good work. My DW/RW army is my pride and joy but nowhere near as good as this model :/

I really like the color choices! The paint job looks great! Are those candles on his back? Those are a nice touch.
