So what would you say, yes or no put your say here.

(Im stating now that im NOT a twilight fan nor was thinking about it in ANY way so please No trolling, I just thought that these quality's would be awesome to have).

Cheers to all comments.

... I've always been more of a " night person" anyway...
And I'm sure..if the mood took me, I could create an " indoor beach"....after all being immortal would lead to aquiring quite a bit of disposable income.

Superspeed and slowdown time? WINGS?

I'm not totally sure where you are getting this from son.

According to mythos vampires are quite OCD and must count any spilled small objects such as rice or beads, cannot cross running water, cannot consume garlic, cannot face sunlight and look relatively decrepit/dishevelled. Though of course the pros and cons of being a vampire would vary wildy from myth to myth, modern day ones tend to focus on the positives when the vampires are the heroes and negatives when they are the antagonists.

Immortality would be nice though..

I'm more of a Team Jacob fan than Team Edward. So I was disappointed to see a lack of a "werewolf" option.

This is another thing, classical vampires did KILL and DRAIN a victim of blood whereas the modern versions just drink some and leave the victim unharmed. Bearing in mind that we only have 8 pints of blood in our body and losing more than 2 of those can do some damage I would say you are going to have to take a lot of victims per night if you aren't going to kill them.

I think I would. Not being able to go out during the day would suck, (as would, obviously, having to kill people) but I'd get used to it. Sounds cold, but if you're an eternal, immortal, super-powered undead monster, I imagine you'd eventually start to look at humans the same way humans look at cattle. I'd also like to point out that in the novel Dracula, the titular character was not destroyed by sunlight, IIRC, but it did weaken him significantly.

But really, I'd like any kind of super power. Even something as subtle and unflashy as this one X-Men character they had at some point, Cypher, who had the power to completely understand any language or code after reading or hearing only a few words.

On the upside if you could give the power of immortality to people you cared about that would be awesome.

Also the wings business im sure somewhere on the net (cant remember where) see a picture of a vampire with humongous bat wings (art work) which got me thinking about this.

Also I see a lot of negatives about being a vampire so If you want on this thread Give your opinion on what a vampire should have and don't have, things I would throw away is being weakened by sunlight and having to kill a person to gain life (just take a bit, not all and if you do the person has been reborn into unlife).

So what do you think?

Cheers to all comments.

The existence of such creatures would cause a radical shift in how I view the world.

I would like to be on the winning side.

So, yes, I would.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

I think the only thing I would miss being a vamp TB style though would be my food, and not being able to eat it. Also I would want to lose some pounds before turning.

You can still eat, your digestive organs don't magically disappear after the transformation.

A digestive system suitable for drinking blood would need to be very long and thin, making solid food impossible to eat safely.

In the True Blood series the vampires cannot eat or drink food as a human would, all they can have is blood or True Blood.

Well... if I could pick what TYPE of vampire, I'd chose to be a White Court Vampire, of House Raith (Dresden files).

Would be pretty awesome.

But don't vampires originally have a human body?

It depends on the setting, sometimes there is a painful transformation, sometimes an unconscious metamorphosis, sometimes there is no real difference biologically other than vampires have no heartbeat.

Same story with if they could eat solid foods, more fantastical settings normally allow solid foods whereas harder settings like true blood generally disallow it.

There are very, very few hard and fast rules for vampires other than: They drink blood. They have some kind of superhuman ability or abilities.

Dracula was merely weakened by sunlight. Nosferatu was destroyed by it.

Sometimes vampires die if they don't drink blood. Sometimes it just makes them weak.

Sometimes a vampire's victims die if they are bitten. Sometimes they go on as if nothing happened. Sometimes they become vampires.

Sometimes vampires have super human strength, hypnotic vision, the ability to turn into bats, cats, wolves, or mist. Sometimes they have some combination of, all of, or none of the above.

Other than that, they seem to be pretty flexible, which is why a discussion of vampires needs to establish rules or use an established setting.

Wooden stakes? Kill sometimes, merely incapacitate others. Garlic? Depends. Silver? Depends. Running water? Depends. Ability to enter homes uninvited? Depends.

This is why I avoid like the plague any sort of freeform role play setting in which someone wishes to play a vampire; they generally pick and choose the best common abilities and leave out the weaknesses.

TL;DR: Any "serious" (and I use the term very, very loosely) discussion of vampires is pointless without ground rules laid out at the beginning.

EDIT: Sorry for the rant; it's not so much that I love vampires moreso than the fact that a lot of people who love vampires get really uppity that all vampires follow the same rules. I remember being berated in some game a long time ago for assuming that those bitten by vampires become vampires automatically. It was pretty ridiculous.

Perhaps the topic should be what KIND of vampire would you like to be? citing fiction whether it be books, tv series or myths.

Probably a good idea.

I guess I'd want to be Dracula, though he had an aversion to garlic and I love me some garlic. Still, as long as I have a steady supply of blood and am not in direct sunlight, I think superhuman strength and speed, nigh-invulnerability, the ability to create thralls devoted to me, and the ability to transform into a wolf or bat or mist would be awesome. And in sunlight, well... I'm no better or worse than an ordinary person.

Also, being staked doesn't kill me. However, being decapitated does, and if I'm staked, I'm probably not going to be able to defend myself from the decapitation that is sure to follow.

I also extrapolate from the novel that without blood, I wouldn't die, but I would become a weak and decrepit old man; I cite Dracula's appearance at the beginning of the novel and how as it goes on he starts to look younger and healthier.
