Hi! I'm not sure if this goes in here, if not feel free to move it or whatever.

I'm about to model a librarian for my BA army, I have bits laying around, and dont like the GW model, so I'm making my own - but I have no experience playing with a librarian, so I don't know what kind of loadout usually goes with him.

I'm mainly wanting to know what weapon i should give him, as in:

1) Keep the bolt pistol.
2) Upgrade to handflamer.
3) Upgrade to either plasma or infernus pistol.

I'm going to run him attached to an assault squad, with jump pack.

Also, is there something that needs to be modelled on, to imply that the librarian has been upgraded to an epistolary?

Keep the BP. He is an assault Libby, so give him Sanguine Sword and Unleash rage, and no, you don't need to mopdel anything for Epistolary, though you can if you want.

Until and unless Plasma Pistols go to 5pts (which they won't) the BP is all you need. Hand flamers are only useful against troops you'll already be wrecking, and the infernus pistol is one notch above useless.
So Force Weapon, BP, JP and whatever powers you think best. sanguine sword and unleash rage are common. I happen to like fear the darkness.

Blood Boil looks promising to me. Target a unit and inflict a unit. Get 5 or less on the test and pick the target.

Depending upon your skill with greenstuff, you might want to try sculpting a psychic hood.

Librarions come with a hood on them.

Edit: Sorry did not see the bit about not using GW model.

I always run my librarians with Terminator armor and StormShield, and put him with assault terminators.

It works wonders.

I would go this route, since Unleashed Rage is amazing in an assault terminator unit, and the 5+ cover save for their transport is nice as well.

Epistolary is not worth the points IMO.
