Hello, Dakka. Now, saw the model for The Doom of Malantai (great model). Now, I was wondering how it was nicknamed this? I know it caused destruction to Malantai, but couldn't there have been another huge beast causing way more damage?

Ok, so one Tyranid monster invades a huge, giant, heavily defended Craftworld, and wipes it out. How is this possible?

Malantai was actually wiped out by a CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT.
The Doom just took the credit for it.
Incidentally does the DoM actually have a model?
AFAIK it doesn't...

I'm sure he meant a fan made model.

It actually wasn't alone.

It landed on a Craftworld with other creatures. Thinking it wasn't that dangerous, the Eldar killed all the other stuff...meanwhile, it managed to find and consume the psychic power of the Craftworlds Infinity Circuit, and THEN it destroyed everything.

So while the killing it did single handed, if it had been alone it would've died in about a second.

@Purplefood: the DOM actually does have a model, I think you can get it from FW.

Nope, there is no GW or FW model for it yet. There are a couple of 'not-Zoanthrope' models made by third parties that serve as acceptable stand-ins.

Ah, I saw a 22k apocalypse game yesterday, and one guy had the DOM. He said it was from FW.

And that isnt true. A simple google check would have told you that before you claimed such thing.

You realise this could've been answered with a simple google-search, yes?

1st result - http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Doom_of_Malan%27tai

And no results for a FW DoM...

Was it this, 'cause that's a Malanthrope. Or was it one of these, 'cause that's a model from Troll Forged Miniatures.

The one from the Troll Forged minis. Actually, the guy had that exact model.

Odd that he said it was from Forgeworld though. Unless he was playing at an 'only GW models' event and just played on everybodies ignorance of FW models.

Actually, the guy bought a huge, pro painted Tyranid army (10k), and didn't really know where the model came from.
