I know its early, and we are in the rumor phase, but I trust Yak's info, so I thought "Let's start talking strats!"
Some of this is related to purchasing, in orther words, what seems most effective.
Let's start with HS.
This FO slot is way more loaded now. My knee jerk is:
1. 1x Monolith (naturally)
2. 2 x Doomsday Cannon

Tomb Spyders need to be a unit now, so you can't spread out their effects. I like the Annihilation Barge, but I think I'd rather be firing Dooms at the enemy (unless its Tyranid or Orc).

The other model isn't out yet, so bugger it for now.

Another question: What do you think of the Ghost Ark. How many would you field? It certainly gives troop choices more survivability and mobility.

Also: Warriors or Immortals? Tesla or Gauss? Discuss!

Let's see the codex and then we'll know how the points go, or the actual stats, OK? You actually killed this thread in the first sentence...

So you're telling me you can't look at what's there and start to imagine what you'd build?
After all these years, does it hurt to speculate on what you will do? Just a bit?

Bro, harsh. Yea, The doomsday guys just look badarse, I was always a fan of the look of tomb spiders, so I'm kinda oping that they become a viable option for a good list. I would put a unit of them in if they did improve them.

I'm thinking of running 2x10 units of warriors in transports and 2x10 units of Immortals with their tesla guns. I'll hold the warriors and transports back for late-game objective grabs, and have the Immortals sitting on objectives early Depending on price, I'll have Crypteks or lords with these units.

I, too, am tore up about the HS slot... I'm thinking that 1 monolith and a pair of Barges would be a good mix. I'd use the Monolith to screen the warriors on an objective or two, and the Barges slide around to the sides to take out armor. Might replace the Barges with the Fast Skimmer/Flyer... we'll see what the model looks like in the 2nd/3rd wave.

For FA slot, I am seriously thinking about sitting the destroyers out. They are more than likely being nerfed. Scarabs are going to be beasts... so I'll likely run two full units of them to eat up armor and make marines walk (at least until a FAQ comes out). Also looking at running a small unit of Praetorians for some head-hunting. I'll wait to see the abilities of the Crypteks to decide if a Lord (for more CC punch) or a Cryptek would be better here.

Not sure what to do about the HQ slot... I might run a named lord and an Overlord so that I can run a second squad of Royal Court as a hammer.

Now... that being said. I haven't actually played any games of 40k. I don't know the rules, and I've only started my army a few months ago.

on the forum. Obviously

I'm thinking of running 3 units of 12 units, with a screen of Immortals in front. Traditional March of Death tactic, with some doomsday cannons and crypteks thrown in for good measure.

Calling this now. Comp necrons will be:

2xcryptek with rez orb or..... 2xLord on barge

Elites: Not enough info. Probably something that can kill tanks or is in a tank itself

6x 5xImmortals/warriors in night scythe/ghost ark

3x 3 destroyres, heavy guns if they are only 40-50 points each.

3x Doomsday Monolith

Feel like it's going to play like BA survivability wise with almost the ranged punch of DE/IG.

According to the rumors this list has 9 lascannons, 24 str 7 AP- shots that can cause more shots if they hit, 3 Str 10 (or 7) AP 1 blasts. Seems like it will be shooty enough and have godly survivability.

Id like to max out transports and units led by crypteks with res orbs but current rumors suggest that'd be far too expensive to be competitive.

Yeah, rez orbs are rumoring up at ~95 points min. Also the transports are rumored to be 100+ points, so you are looking at Eldar waveserpent levels of expense.

The doomsday arc smacks of "Vindicator" syndrome. I weapon destroyed, immobilized or stunned takes it out of the game, and it's doubly bad because after the first pen you will be losing 2 AV. Mark my words, not viable for competitive play.

Other then more vague guessing or people suggesting builds based on what they think looks cool this thread is going nowhere until November 5.

In general strategy I'm sensing that these vehicles are meant to take quantum shielding get to the front ASAP in a way mimicking Dark Eldar only with less firepower and less speed. Basically get to midfield unload everyone and have them unload on everything. The shielding may sound bad but how many transports do you loose 1st turn on average? Granted if its like 20-30pts its a waste, but for say 5-10pts I'd pay to give my guys a better chance of getting to the fight and not have to foot slog up field. Raiders can down to bolt pistol fire, Ghost Arcs with quantum shielding shouldn't.

Without more reliable news on the rules this is basically a rumor thread and thus a duplicate thread. Locking.
