I play legion and although I love them they can make my head hurt so I'm looking for a different faction that won't make me cry inside when something threatens one of my models.
Thus far I have narrowed it down to Cygnar, Menoth, and Skorne.
I really want to get Skorne but I've heard they have no range at all, which coupled with being slow means i'm not interested in them right away, Menoth is a neat idea and I tend to like religious fantic groups for some reason and Cygnar just have that cool gun mage steampunk thing going so which should I get?

Horus. For the second most perfect being in IoM, he totally got played by a few joes and his own ego. Not to mention "theres to much paperwork" crybaby attitude. Oh and how when someone accuses your father of treason you kill half the galaxy and attack him. USE YOUR WORDS!! - psyklone

Proxy them all and see which you like most? Do you like the playstyle of Skorne, Menoth, or Cygnar outside of face value things?

they all are fun to play

If I had access to the faction decks I would proxy them all but I would rather not buy them all just to find out if I want to play. I really wish there were more articles about the factions so I could get a better grasp of each faction and it's playstyle.
I like the idea of a gunline which is why I like Cygnar, Menoth has a trollblood vibe which I like but isn't trollblood so I wouldn't be playing something one of the people I play against does already and Skorne just have awesome fluff, again a huge problem with the lack of mobility and ranged. I know I'm getting Skorne in the future, it will happen, I just don't think i'm ready for not having ranged attacks AND being slow.

If you really want a gun line go with cygnar but, what i always say is pick the faction that appeals to you the most model wise.

While Cygnar can toss out gunline armies, they tend to do their best with a combined arms approach. Most scenarios involve being in your opponent's face at some point and if you bring nothing but guns to a close combat fight you're in for some hurt.

That is very true but the only two armies that i think can do good gun lines even though they still need some melee is cygnar and circle

I'm not seeing the Circle gunline, personally.

For me, I'm going to be expanding into Crocs because they work well with Legion so its kind of a no brainer, similar to how a lot of Warmachine armies go to Mercs since they already dip in a lot.

But, I think I would look for a Warmachine army because of the Focus vs. Fury mechanic. That alone changes how the models interact and having one of each WM and Hordes sounds cool.

I'm also a MERC fanboy, they just look awesome and everyone seems to indicate they are a lot of fun to play, but lack the options other factions have, which is ok as a second faction.

You really can't go wrong with Cygnar. They are very solid and have a lot of options. Their casters are good with a few super casters like the Haleys, Caine, Stryker. Nemo is fun for a super lightning based gunline list and can support Jacks. There's nothing like seeing a Thunderhead walk into a line of infintry and electrocute them all and smash whats left, while your caster slings lightning around and gun lines take down more targets.

I don't know much about Scorne other than the Makeda & Malak Karn Bullet shenanigans. Bronzeback looks amazing, and their fury management is the best.

Menoth give their opponents problems. I've heard they have super synergy within their faction and they have a lot of denial based tactics and abilities. Now for my meta, having an army that tells the opponent they can't do something is rather annoying. Not fun to play against IMHO. If you really want that style of play, go Cygnar eHailey lol. They do however have lots of flames of righteousness so for the religious pyro zealots out there, this faction is for you! I SHALL CLEANSE YOU WITH HOLY FLAMES!

I say go with the models you want to paint the most. That way you will actually complete the force and play more games with it

Skorne are not slow. Some of the beasts, mainly Titans, have slow base speed, but access to Rush and several movement boosts that are available make Skorne fast. There are several spells which boost speed, tyrant commander and Xerxis have battleplans, one of which boosts speed, and Beast handlers give free tramples or charges to beast.

They are not as fast as circle or legion, but are not slow as menoth. Skorne are focused on melee and don't have any buffs to boost ranged attacks currently available though, so if you want to have more of ranged army they are not for you. Pure gunlines are not valid in this game, so I would go for a more balanced approach with cygnar also.

Skorne do have some ranged capabilities. Venators with ua are quite viable. The same goes for the titan cannoneer, that is atm in at least 50% of all lists i make. The Drake is a rather popular beast with a magic spray. The shooting attack on the cyclops shaman is caster kill material. Arcuarri are as fast as legions warmonger and got a short ranged shooting attack. The whole " Skorne have no shooting" comes simply from the fact that they have zero ranged buffs and people therefore prefer melee. On top of that 2 Skorne Warlocks can arc spell through beasts or troopers.

Skorne are also not really slow, in fact the only slow units would be cataphract cetrati( due to shield wall) and the Titan beasts ( that can be solved by some of the incredible amount of movment buffs). Fun fact: Take eMakeda and a Titan Gladiator and giggle, when your opponent realizes that your spd 4 titan just charged 11"

Maybe he's thinking Legion?

Also, Tharn Bloodtrackers and Nuala rock the house.

+1 to this, they have some low base stats but some amazing movement shenanigans (MK's 15" threat range...).

Including things like R2W, Rush, Push, Leash, Side Step, and Reach I think you mean Molik Karn's 23" threat range.
