You are trying to steal a machine with a soul. It won't sit idle while you are messing with it; its going to wreck your gak to kingdom come.

I forgot about Machine Spirits... now look what you've done, I have to come up with something

Did you ever read the story about Rynn's world? Turns out a single Land Raider held back the ork WAAAGH! at the Fortress Monastery of the Crimnson Fists and killed the Warboss leading the charge... The Land Raider was unmanned.

I can guarantee an Imperial Knight will have a Machine Spirit of a similar magnitude.

You're only tempting me further...

You see Kharne. There's a few things wrong with trying to have a Necron (or frankly anyone) trying to steal a Knight.

1. Knight Scions interface directly with their Knight. If I read the Knight codex correctly there's a lengthy ritual in which a Knight bonds directly with his suit, meaning that nobody else can use it.

2. Knight suits themselves have VERY powerful machine spirits. There's also bits and pieces of every soul who's ever piloted the suit in there too, so the suit itself would self destruct before you could get anywhere with it.

3. Necrons don't have nervous systems that could bond with a suit period.

4. Seriously, why the feth does everyone want to steal my army now?

At least the Kroot wouldn't want it. Too noisy, too big. If they want something big on the battlefield, they send in the T-rexes. Uh, I mean knarlocs.

And the BoB wouldn't want a knight. If they could, they'd aim for corrupting the pilot instead. I'd imagine a mortal's soul is more appetizing to Nurgle than what amounts to an AI.

1) Would that be for every single chaos knight? In a universe so big, I think it'd be plausible for a pilot to go chaos and bring the knight with it. Unlikely, sure, but plausible. And yes, I am bringing the "its a big universe" card into play.

2) That doesn't mean that the pilot has no soul to be corrupted. Nurgle takes everyone. Even has a place for the Emperor, if he'd just let him in.

My view is that Chaos Knight pilots are mortal. Over time and exposure to the warp some of them may warp and fuse with their machines (think Helldrakes), but the one piloting the machine is still mortal, albeit corrupted.

The fluff says people (the Ordo Malleus) thinks the pilots are no more than possessed husks of the former pilot. Think of it like a Helbrute, but bigger and more possessed.

Space Marimes don't really eat traditional food. They eat nutrient packed bars and supplements because to fuel their bodies on regular food, they'd have to eat near constantly.
They do feast on occasion. They have staff for that. Well trained, nervous staff.

I was working on my personal forces for COF 2 and I wanted your guys opinions

40k inquisition COF 2

Inquisitor Garrett Randal warband

A man in his early thirties Randal is somewhat of a novice to the order, seen as an unexperienced Inquisitor, his mentor was an old man named Roche Lafayette who passed on several years ago, Randal believes the Ends do not always justifies the means, though that is no reason to be grim. He fears his duty will change him, while he accepts this might happen he would like to remain himself. His retinue is rather unsure of him, their opinions are mixed.

Brother Captain Athenar

Grand Master Leorac assigned Athenar and his men to Lord Inquisitor Roche, when Roche’s protégée took command of Roche’s assets Athenar felt obligated to remain with Randal, he had respect for Roche as he knew him to be a true servant of the god Emperor. It is Athenar's hope that Randal can prove himself worthy to take his mentor’s place in the inqustion, if Randal should fail it would be to Athenar he answers he is both his protector and his handler.

Paladin Utilitarius

Assigned to Athenar’s protection Utilitarius is a battle hardened marine for whom the ends always justify the means. He has unrelenting hatred for the taint of chaos and xenos and contempt for both humans and other Astartes, he serves only the god Emperor and the order.

Justicar Freeman

The leader of squad Shogun Brother Freeman is seen as oddly light hearted for his order. He is hard to dislike regardless of an individuals opinion of the Grey Knights. But make no mistake he is completely loyal in his duty and has enforced the Grey Knights no witness policy in the past.

Commissar Jethro Alenko

Apprentice to Commissar Jack Sheppard, Jethro received his own command. Unfourtunatly he was assigned to 4892 Penal legion. Jethro is unaware who he angered to get assigned such a low company but the young Commissar has opted to make the best of his situation.

Warden Hoffman

Warden Tulliy Hoffman is responsible for the unruly prisoners that make up 4892 penal legion. He despises his charges viewing them a little more than a servitors to throw at the enemy. As an Arbite Hoffman saw the worst humanity had to offer and believes the emperor’s holy law is the only thing of any real value.

Captain Amanda Kid

Captain Kid is the commander of Inquisitor’s most elite henchmen. The Crusader Battalion are an eclectic bunch of individuals; they do not hail from any single world rather they are on the constant look out for members to enter their ranks offering. They scout out elite members from other companies and will either offer them a place in their ranks, or kidnap them and wipe their memories. Either way they have men from all over the Imperium, Cadian Kaserkins, Vostoryian First Born, and even some Faustian knights. Kid joined up with Randal willingly and had the good fortune to retain her memories of her time in the Faustian army.

Forces

Strike Squad Shogun 10 battle brothers (Justicar Freeman)

Terminator Squad Ajachus 9 battle brothers (Paladin Utilitarius)

Penal Legion 4892-C “The Jackals” 1848 men (Warden Hoffman/ Commissar Alenko)

Inquisitorial storm troopers “Crusader Battalion” 833 men (Captain Kid)

I like them a lot.
My only issue is that you would not have a young inquisitor in-universe. They're typically risen through the ranks and groomed very *very* slowly. Assuming someone was old enough to begin assisting the inquisition in their late teens, 10-15 years would not elevate them to leading their own task force or being an inquisitor. Quite likely they'd not be in an inner circle.

It's not like an IG military post, governor or cadet commissar position where you could end up with someone fresh faced and confused. The only way there is through grift and blood, and quite a large quantity.

To put it in a less meandering way: 30 year olds don't get ultimate sanctioned power or the ability to blow up planets.

Does it turn out that the main villain is his father, and they fight on a walkway over a big hole?
Augmetic hand would be easy at least.

I'm absolutely not objecting to a cool Inquisitor, I'm saying they'd be older (even if just on the inside) and they definitely wouldn't be inexperienced.
It's much like being ordained, you can't accidentally end up as one while still querying your faith.
For example, the Dark Heresy RPG book stresses that your character won't be an Inquistor, due to how difficult that rank is to attain. It's not even about being born in the right place... (Why'd you think most Inquisitors are miserable feths in the fluff?)

It's kinda inverse of how you can end up with a gentle commissar due to skill in other areas.
