So I remade this list. Let me know what you guys think. I have 2 TWC units each with Wolf Lords to make them that much better. The Rune Priest in the Rhino to advance the line and shut down psy powers. Everything else is pretty self explanatory.

HQ:
Wolf Lord TW
-SS/TH
-Saga of the bear
-Runic Armour
-Wolftooth Necklace.

Wolf Lord TW
-SS/Frost Blade
-Saga of the Majesty
-Runic Armour
-Wolftooth Necklace.

Rune Priest
-Living Lightning
-Jaws

Troops:
5 Grey Hunters
-Meltagun
-Razorback (TL Lascannon)

5 Grey Hunters
-Meltagun
-Razorback (TL Lascannon)

5 Grey Hunters
-Meltagun
-Rhino (Rune Priest with this Unit)

Fast Attack:
3 Thunder Wolf Calvary
-SS/TH
-SS
-SS/Meltabombs

3 Thunder Wolf Calvary
-SS/TH
-SS
-SS/Meltabombs

Heavy:
6x Long Fangs
-5x Missile Launchers

6x Long Fangs
-5x Missile Launchers

6x Long Fangs
-5x Missile Launchers

Total: 1975

Have some points left over. What should I do with them?

All in all, not too bad of a list; however, I have a few recommendations:

1) A list like this needs sure psychic defense against Grey Knights as they will have a field day with you because of their Force Weapons. I would drop the 3rd Thunderwolf pack and substitute in a Rune Priest and a Pack of Grey Hunters in a Rhino (~220 points)

2) Scouts will be extremely helpful in this situation to force your opponent forward...you should have almost enough points for a pack with a Melta gun.

After you make those changes, I foresee a rather scary list that can dance with some of the best.

Thanks a ton for the recommendations. I do agree I need a rune priest. I was actually thinking about that last night.

What would you think if i dropped a TWC unit and added in another Razorback squad with a melta gun and just put the rune priest with a squad of long fangs. I'm not a huge fan of having my rune priest run up the board in a transport. Also, I think the added lascannon would be very beneficial.

Let me know what you think and like I said, I want this list to be brutal. Thanks a ton.

The biggest reason to take the Rune Priest in the first place is actually to thrust him up the middle in support of the Thunderwolves.

Remember, his Runic Staff only has a range of 24" so he needs to be pretty close to the Thunderwolves to give them the support they need. Additionally, say he employs any of his secondary powers (Besides Living Lightning), he has to be in Bolter Range to be effective.

I would rather have the Priest in a Rhino so he could fire out of the top. Don't forget how handy an Unlimited Range Autocannon can be!

I see what you mean. That sounds like a good deal. Ill have to give it a whirl. What upgrades should I toss on the Rune Priest? Also, what kind of special weapons should I toss into the squad with the Rune Priest?

Thanks again man.

If anything on the Rune Priest the only piece of gear that's worth it is the Chooser of the Slain. +1 BS is priceless in and of itself; however, being able to deny infiltrators is priceless as well as you can deny Pathfinders and other such annoying units their preferred deployment.

In terms of Special Weapons for the Grey Hunter Special Weapons, any of them really work...boils down to personal choice more than anything. Melta is always a good choice and Plasma never hurts, especially with all the Feel No Pain going around. The Flamer is more if you think you need it; but, I think between Plasma and Melta is where you should be choosing.

I don't think I can add much here except to say that Unholy provides some sound advice. The addition of a Rune Priest would be extremely wise. I've had some luck running Njal with Thunderwolves at 1,850 and 2,000, but that style list requires fewer Thunderwolves than it looks like you want to run, so it might not be the right option for you.

I'm wondering if it would be an option to drop the Wolf Lord and with those points add in a Rune Priest with a squad of Grey Hunters in a rhino. I dont have my codex with me right now, but I think I could make the points work.

So the question comes down to this, Is the Wolf Lord better than or equal to an extra unit of Thunder Wolf Calvary? I would have to say that keeping the extra TWC would give me an extra target so it seems like the more favorable idea of the two. What do you guys think?

I would say the Lord is better in the long run. On my experience, Eternal Warrior and always hitting on 3's counts for a lot...At the end of the day though, that would be your call...I prefer being able to split off 1 guy to go murder units by his lonesome than throwing multiple bodies...but that's just me.

Well I havent ever ran TWC, so in your exp, how survivable are they? The 3+ invuln is awesome, but I'm pretty scared of a lascannon to the face.

I think I may be leaning a little towards the extra squad only because it would almost ensure that I get 2 squads into CC. I'm just afraid that with all the high str low ap weapons that my 2 TWC units wouldnt get a chance to really get stuck in.

Just becareful about tank shock against your TWC, leadership 8 suck and its very easy to achieve. I used to run with 2 Wolf lords on a thundermount, just to protect the rest of the Cav unit.

I didn't even think about that. Good call. I'll have to run a few test games with some variations in the units to see what works for me. Thanks a ton for the help and I'll be sure to post a battle report or 2 with this list.

Yeah I ran 2x Lords at 'Ard Boyz and put Saga of Majesty on the second one, which made the unit nearly un-breakable, and helped when I split my Lords off to assault a different target. With 60mm bases it's pretty easy to jockey things around during movement so you stay within 6" to give that re-roll.....and having Njal helped with that as well.

Your Wolf Lords are illegal. They have to be equipped with different wargear, and they cannot have the same saga. Give the second one a Frost Blade or a Wolf Claw instead of the Thunder Hammer, and give him Saga of Majesty. That will differentiate his gear enough to be satisfactory and give you a strong anti-infantry melee character.

Use the extra points to give the Rune Priest a Chooser of the Slain and bulk up the unit he is with. Give them a Wolf Standard and perhaps Mark of the Wulfen, and add some bodies to the unit if you can. Either that, or consider buying Razorbacks for your Long Fangs. If you play Dawn of War, they will have to walk onto the board which means they won't be shooting until at least turn 2. Better to give them a transport to ensure they get a good position to fire from.

Hope that helps.

Your wolf lords cannot have the exact same gear setup. You should change a thunderhammer to a powerfist or something.

Thanks a ton for the advice. I thought about buying razorbacks for the Fangs, but I would prob have to drop the Rune Priest and his squad. I'm really torn between getting those 3 extra Lascannons or having that Rune Priest squad.

Either that or I could drop one of the Wolf Lords, but I really like the idea of having those TWC stick around for a while.

The List would look something like this

HQ:
Wolf Lord TW
-SS/TH
-Saga of the bear
-Runic Armour
-Wolftooth Necklace.

-SS/Frost Blade
-Saga of the Majesty
