Hey all as said in the subject I'm new to Lizardmen, me and a couple of mates are putting together 1000pt list so we can play at our local warhammer club.

Heroes

Scar-vet 133pts
BSB- standard of discipline
light armor
shield

Skink Priest 125pts
Lvl.2
diadem of power

Core
21xSaurus 249pts
SB
musician

23xSaurus 271pts
SB
musician

10xSkink Skirmishers 70pts

Special
7xChameleons 84pts

Rare
Salamander 80pts
extra handler

total: 995pts

so there you have it scar-vet runs with the 23 block, priest runs with skirmishers(if this is possible), and that about covers it except any ideas about the 5 extra points. also in the next couple of days ill release a 1250 and 1500pt lists just planning for the future.

P.S. i am bad at math so if i miss counted please say so

Looks pretty solid. Saurus, Skink Skirmishers, Chameleons, Salamander...that's pretty much all the good stuff.

I'd consider getting some protective items for your BSB, rather than the Standard. You need him alive.

The Ironcurse Icon is a good way to go for 5pts. Or a Potion of Speed, maybe?

Beyond that, it's what I'd expect from Lizardmen about now. Solid.

I have played a couple of 1000 point games in a small tournament a few days ago, so I think I can give some tips.

I have my doubts about your bsb; taking a special standard cancels out the option to take other magic items. the unit with the bsb is going to be into combat, which is cool, except when your bsb comes into combat with any other character (and if the unit stays out of combat, it is a waste of those awesome hitting power of the saurus). Only having a 3+ save isn't going to keep it alive against any combat character. One of the pros here is that if you lose combat, you're unit is going to hold it. But when you had chosen a scar-vet with 40 points on offensive gear, you would probably have swung the combat into your favour, meaning that you wouldn't need to test. So I would use the vet as general, not as BSB. (In the small tournament I attended, the best player (who also ran a lizardmen list) had a saurus oldblood with the burning blade of chotec. Just saying)

I also don't quite grasp the choice for the diadem of power on the priest. If you want a defensive build on the priest, keep him lvl 1 with either the diadem of a dispel scroll. If you want him offensive, just keep it lvl 2. My personal experience is that a offensive skink priest is awesome with the plaque of tepok. With 3 spells you have a really good chance to get the comet of cassandora or chain lightning, which have (especially in my games) a dramatical impact on the opponents army.

All in all, it is a balanced list; I wouldn't be happy to face two saurus blocks. And since I'm not that experienced, you don't have to follow my tips, it's only my point of view.

Good luck!

hi and thank you for responding i have taken into consideration what you said and have changed my list like so:

Scar-vet 135pts
BSB
light armor
enchanted shield
gold sigil sword

Skink Priest 115pts
Lvl.2
plaque of tepok

with this the vet will have an armor save of 2+ and an initiative 10 which i hope will let him go first, and the priest is now offensive(which might be a bad thing). Also i gave myself an extra chameleon in this first list so there should just be six in the squad at a cost of 72pts, now i should be fine though. As before any criticism and advice is always welcome.

Haha, the offensive priest has always played an important role in my games. Most of the time he launched one or two chainlightnings or comets before he blew himself up, but those spells killed twice his worth in points. A miscast is always pretty bad, but the skink priest has the advantage that a roll of 7 (which is mathematicly seen the most rolled number with 2 dice) has no effect at all, since he isn't in base contact.

A good way to improve your army is to think of what you could encounter in your battles and look if you have an answer to it. I think your scar-vet would be better of with that burning blade, just in case a hydra or hellpit abomination shows up.

I would recommend you to try your army out, you learn more from that than from reading this forum ^^
