If you may not remember, lucky glance is where weapons which would not normally be able to even glance armor, could have a small chance to glance it. I've twaked the idea a little bit, and want to throw it up here for scrutiny.

These rules would only apply to weapons whose strength would not normally allow even a glance against the vehicle being shot at.

Add up all rolls to hit with the weapons being fired, all hits will count as a single hit as far as effecting the vehicle, the total number of hits will count as the strength of the hit on the vehicle.
Roll for vehicle penetration as normal with the new effective strength of the hit, this penetration roll can glance but can not penetrate the vehicle. Apply damage as normal, except that vehicles can not be destroyed from weapon destroyed or immobilized results from this type of attack, they will count as stunned instead.

I think this is a nice way of showing that, while guns like bolters, lasguns, shuri-catapults, tyranid goo, can not destroy the vehicle, if you get enough cumulative hits on a vehicle, you can damage a weapon or the tracks or shake it up.

So if you roll say, 8 hits with weapons that could not even glance from your squad, it counts as a strength 8 hit against the vehicle.

Not really, as this means my 30 Grots could potentially damage a Land Raider, which should not happen.

Agreed with everyone here, a Guardsman blob could easily put out 50 shots and have 25 hit...

Well, if they're going to invest that much firepower into a single vehicle, and only be able to shake, stun, imobolize, or destroy a weapon. They won't be able to destroy your vehicle, only slow it down.

Maybe add another -1 to the vehicle damage chart?

I can appreciate the fear of blobs, maybe give it a maximum strength? S7? S8? Maybe total the shots and divide by 2.

Makes it too complex, also it still doesn't make sense, a few S3 Ap- weapons are able to glance, or even immobilise a Baneblade, for example. Nothing should be changed regarding a "lucky glance" concept.

Isn't this already a Necron power?

But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Yeah it's pretty much a nerfed version of necron gauss guns.

A major issue is the lack of discrimination for different weapons.
So if I have 30 marines with bolters shooting at a land raider, I'd have equal chance to do something as 30 marines equipped with BB guns.

Also, orks wouldn't really benefit from this remotely as much as IG las spam. First rank second rank fire command would be super buffed.

If you altered it to they could only shake it, maybe stun it, then it would be a bit better. It would stop flashlights destroying stormravens and other skimmers, and it'll also stop them immobilizing land raiders.

The lucky glance rule only existed if you were playing an Armored Company army. And, that was because the entire army was vehicles, so units that couldn't hurt armor were totally worthless.

There's no longer any all-vehicle armies, so I don't think this rule is needed.

That being said, I think the rule as you laid it out is pretty balanced. Using an entire IG blob squad to get a single glacing hit seems fair to me.

You mean Glance, right?

Not really. Glance plus the minus for a - AP means lots of stuns and shakes if anything.

You'd still be restricted to max S of 10. And, you noticed the OP said that glance is possible but not penetrate, right?

Glancing is still too much. weapons of Str4 and below really arn't meant to damage vehicles.

And if you had a couple of middling sized blobs, you could immobilize and tear the weapons off a land raider in short order. Something flashlights shouldn't do

In a counter proposal make it the following:

Roll to hit, on each roll of a 6 you get 1 Str, if you glance/pen it causes Shaken (no other result).
This would be to represent the hail of fire making the crew think twice about shooting their weapons when it might explode just outside the barrel on them or something..

I.E - 20 Lasguns fire, 12 hit, 5 get a 6, you then get to resolve a Str5 hit that, you then roll a 5, glancing and causes Shaken.

Nice and simple, no complications and no overpowered craziness having to commit a large amount of firepower for a basic waylaying tactic.
