This has been bothering me for a while so there goes:
In multyple batreps i see people using potions during the assault phase, yet all potions say they are drunk at the start of any player's turn.
Is everyone doing it wrong or am i missing something?

I think they mean they have drunk it at the start but the actual effects happen in the assault phase, just a misunderstanding I guess.

People forget to drink them at the start of the turn all the time.
Because you have to drink at the start of the turn, you can't surprise your opponent in a challenge, or even on the charge, with a stronger/tougher/meaner character.

As a dwarf player, I don't have access to these, so my only experience is against them. It often ends up in a slightly awkward- "Oh, I forgot to use my potion, is it cool if I activate it?"
I don't think I've ever said no- but the difference between start of the turn and start of the phase is what keeps it from being really frequently seen, in my opinion.

Dwarfs (currently) only use their own rune sistem thingie.

I like using the potion of foolhardiness, since I use brets, it make the charge devastating thanks to devastating charge 
|

Only one I use is Skalm, which specifically allows it to be used at the start of any phase.
