Evening all, so I was in a GW store yesterday after some of the new liquid green stuff for a new sisters conversion and the staff said that the entire stock across all of GW had sold out. Now i don't know about anyone else but in my experience stores don't often sell out of new releases let alone company wide (anyone remember any other examples?).

So my questions are, those that have got some is it one of the best modelling aids you've come across?

Or is just a simple case of underestimating demand?

Or (with my cynical head on) an indication of Finecast quality?

Thoughts peeps.

I picked it up at my FLGS...Still not sure about it, goes on like paint, but hmmm.....It doesn't react like GS. Getting a smooth finish is difficult unless you want to file it down.

This was my first thought, maybe they rushed it out just to get it to market.

@ mwnciboo hmmm so not perfect then did you use it over a large area or to fill cracks/joints up (my planned use)?

Really? I'm having a hard time getting anything but a smooth finish.

Are you watering down your brush before applying it? That does make a difference, from what I can tell.

No i didn't use water because I figured it wasn't like acrylic paint so adding water is probably not a good idea. Are you getting a smooth finish by adding water if so how much? I am using it on Resin's Scribor miniatures not Finecast to cover some slight imperfections (read unwanted details).

Here is a pic..

I use a very small amount of water, just wetting the brush down before I brush it on.

However, I will say that you can get an even smoother finish if you use 90% water and a small amount of Tamiya's acrylic thinner.

Just be careful with the thinner if you work indoors, and ventilate properly. It can give you some wacky trips.

It doesn't seem to mind being watered down, I have used it in a wet palette with a little water and it makes it workable for longer.

Would make sense, Green stuff itself works best with some kind of additional liquid, be it water or something else.

I can see why its selling mind, even if not for finecast, I was thinking it'd be useful to seal in the slight gaps you sometimes get with plastics or whatever when stuck together.

Must be easier than trying to get a slither of greenstuff in a tiny gap and smoothing it out.

That is what I'm hoping I've got the Chapterhouse storm raven kit pretty much finished and need some gaps and cracks filling. Its not the greatest kit in the world that's for sure but the end result makes up for it.

I've heard good things about liquid Green Stuff.

At the same time, it's rather unlikely that every wargamer in the world has decided to buy a tub.

I suspect they didn't stock very much of it.

Life went on before it was introduced, so I am sure we can survive for a week or two until they get it back in stock.

That is more what I'm thinking happened.

They've seemingly learned from when they introduced the Citadel Spraybrush, and start with a 'single' run before moving over to full production.

Pretty much my train of thought as well, but good to get some tips from those who've managed to get some in the mean time.

Thousand Nuns, can you post up a mini-review of the Chapterhouse Storm Raven kit? I'm intrigued by them, but have never been up close and personal with one.

Smashing, maybe it's just UK stores that have run short. Have you used it yet? The general impression I'm getting is pretty positive, what do you think?

I don't think that this is stock related on a local level anyway.

I went in two GWs on the week of release and both had sold out. The first had sold out by the first Tuesday after releae and was expecting stock. The second I went to had sold out twice (four bixes of 24 i think they said) and was expecting their third that day (thursday).

Sounds like GW have done their entire stock though, I guess word is out on it. Glad I got mine.

I may get shot down for this but I've got mixed feelings on it. The resin seems very cheap and most of the parts are quite thin and brittle with large sprue sections on them which can make them hard to trim without breaking the part, so be careful and use a knife or saw when trimming. Also I found it hard to align with the plastic kit I had to do a lot of fettling to make the whole thing fit together and needed to make some spacers from styrene strips to get the top section and tail to line up. Now I would say I'm far from the best modeller in the world but I've done a lot of FW kits over the years several with warped parts and not had the same probs as with this kit. However in conclusion despite these problems (any more experienced bods please point out where i went wrong) the overall effect on the stormraven kit is excellent, it really makes it look superb. Plus the wings and body mounted air intake cover most of the resin parts anyway so you just get the extended look without any real drawbacks, B+

Nice, I actually think the extended version looks better than the original GW version. The GW one is far too short and stumpy and does physically look big enough to hold its transport capacity. But I digress from the OT....

Firestorm Games in Cardiff has lots of Liquid GS.

Still have it at my shop, gone through about 75% of my order. It's outselling Devlan Mud, which is my best selling paint.

Because the grain of the filler isn't that conducive to filling small gaps, and like normal green stuff can be less than adhesive on plastic.

I'm trying it as an alternative to humbrol model filler which is great but smells like buggery (which is never that good for you?).

Couple of quid in the UK, so $3-4 in the US at most?

Hmm weird... the one i use is toothpaste consistency and can be watered down to be like liquid greenstuff,
or if left to dry alittle, i can sculpt it like clay. It clings to all the plastic base and plasticards i use too. ( my beach kan in gallery is based with those )

Anyways, just letting people know there are products out there that can easily rival.

I've recently started assembling some of the large metal war beasts for Hordes that have some infamous gap issues. Liquid greed stuff has turned the 10-15 minute tasks of filling the gaps with grey stuff and smoothing it out (granted I am slow) to a 30 second task of running a brush loaded with liquid green stuff over the gaps and calling it a day.
On the whole I'm pretty pleased with the stuff.

I've found that if I'm sloppy and let a bit of the liquid green stuff get away from the gap I'm filling, that an old beat to hell detail brush loaded with water will scrub that excess right off.
