So, I lost two Rhinos in my last battle.
How many of my Chaos Marines died tragically as they either cataclysmically exploded or were slowly cooked to a husk?
I'm assuming there's a driver and a gunner/commander. Are they traditionally Marines or something else?

Not any more. The Diagram that shows how marines fit in a Rhino retconned it to a single Driver(the Sgt takes the Passenger seat so there's only 9 in the back).

Chaos Space Marine rhinos are often driven by slaves that have become daemonically fused to the control chairs. This is clearly described in both Dark Apostle and Storm of Iron. Imperial Rhinos have normal crews though.

well at least in 3rd edition you could buy escape hatches for IG vehicles.

From the best of memory it was D3 crewmembers per wreck. with either a lasgun or pistol

oh the good ol times of not sitting in you wreck while it burns around you/ continuing the good fight/ making your vehicle only count as 'damaged' for VP purposes.

Always been 1 since RT as far as I remember. Unless GW gave us a retconn which got retconned and shall itself be retconned... *continue until imploding from retconns and become a singularity which then retconns the Earth*

3rd Edition Marine Codex stated 2 Crew.

I still don't understand why the 3rd Ed Codecii(other than IG with the Escape Hatches) felt the need for a Crew Stat anyway.

If you're talking about Chaos Marines, there's no saying exactly who/what could be crewing your tanks. You could have hard-wired slaves driving it, or it could be driven by a daemon-AI. Or it could be a single marine, like a loyalist vehicle. Up to you.

Just says space marines crew rhinos in mine, no actual number. Vehicle manual and 2nd ed stuff all agreed one driver though, pretty sure the breakdown diagram in a white dwarf somewhere of current style ones also showed one driver that someone was going on about upon the release of it.

IT isn't 3rd ed..... its the 4th ed space marine dex that stated crew sizes and it says:

Rhino: 1
Razorback: 1
Predator, vindicator, whirlwind : 2
Land Raider: 3

So 1 is correct.

Khorne bless (and devour the souls) of those poor individuals.
Still, it pleases me that only one of my galliant CSM is cooked to death instead of two.
Perhaps fluff-wise I should crew my Rhinos with servitors.

lol I actually went and dug the 3rd ed dex out just for that. The possibility they had made it 2 made me curious to see if I had forgotten something in my old age. Very happy to know it isn't my memory going on me totally yet
