Recently stripped a bunch of old models, among them a '99 Limited Edition SM Captain. Easily still one of my favorite models to date so I decided to do it some justice and repaint him up nice and proper.

Wish I had a better cam, some of the fine details got a bit blurred and the saturation on the axe got a bit faded.

Thats pretty awesome, but arent salamander eyes meant to be red?

Thanks

They are red by the fluff, but I prefer a fiery orange hue, works better with the overall pallet. I personally think the red is obnoxious and overkill. I don't really see why they needed to change it them in 5th and force me to repaint all the skin in my Sallies

So that's why he looks so pissed - the Captain dropped all his candy corn!

Kidding, of course, but the basing is the one thing that immediately jumped out at me. It's a niggling point, perhaps, but your glow is the opposite of how embers/magma work (hot core, cooling to black at the edges). It's far from being a deal-breaker, but some folks find simple things like that surprisingly jarring.

That's a great piece. Did it come with the combi-melta or did you do it yourself?

It comes with a combi-melta. I have one too I can't wait to paint!

That's one of my favorite GW sculpts, and I really like what you've done with it. The trim on the tabbard/cape is a nice touch, and the way you painted his axe looks simple but really good.

Yeah, I normally do fire and such the correct way , but I just kinda said feth it and did hot edges instead.

For a moment I was thinking about doing some converting on the model, giving him a TH and Combi Flamer, but then I came back to my senses and decided not to sully the model.

Thanks for the comments folks
