I'm considering adding Wulfrik and a 30-40 man marauder horde (MoK, GW) who I can use to rear-charge the enemy, or flank them, depending on the turn. My army does not currently have marauders in it.

I have two questions about Wulfrik's special rules:

Gift of Tongues: "He may force an enemy character to automatically accept his challenge..." - does this mean I get to choose the model who in turn accepts the challenge or does the normal rules apply so that my opponent may choose which of his eligible characters take on the challenger?

Hunter of Men: this says to nominate a single model. How do this relate to a character on a mount? Physically they are the same model, but I guess I have to choose between the mount and the rider? Or, if not, what happens when the mount is slain and the character is represented by a different model?

Edit: One more thing, when I nominate a model for Hunter of Men, do I have to tell my opponent which one it is or do I note it down?

Yes, you choose a model to accept the challenge, and they cannot decline it

Nope, you choose a single model, mount and all.

depends on the rule - if it tells you to "declare" then you have to state it out loud, otherwise writing it down would be enough

I would say not worth it.

2 reasons people that know you have him will hang back and then the rest of your guys will have to walk further.
The come on and cant charge that turn so they are sitting there wooow.

I suggest take festus the leach lord same amount of points.

Stick him in a unit of 50 mok fc gw marauders.
Charge something.
Win combat.

Festus gives marauders 5+ regen and poisoned so any 6s to hit are an insta wound at str 5.
Then you are str 5 ws4.
Also curse of the leper really useful.
He is worth his points and makes marauders super awesome.

Awesome thanks.

The rules says 'nominate' so I guess I can keep it secret until it's time to kill the nominated model.

It's true that Festus does more for the marauders, but he wont live very long once people start hitting him imo. Also, Wulfrik's ability to auto-challenge makes him good for wizard and bsb hunting among other things.. I dunno. How large should a Marauder-unit landing with Seafang be by the way? Was thinking 30-40 somewhere..

They have no saves and strike last so make the unit big.

50 guys is still only 300 points.

The thing is you can keep him on 1 side of the battle and your unit champ can challenge the first round and with regen he wont do bad.

Then your marauders do a ton of damage and then the unit looses because marauders with poison are boss.

Thank you for the advice. I'm a Khorne man so that makes me not really want to use Festus, though Wulfrik's ok since he is undivided (also I like his style). 50 sounds good, though with Wulfrik it will be close to 500 points so it'll be hard on my army if he fails somehow due to enemy not moving or something (although I could just place him on a suitable edge and reform anyway I guess).

Thanks again.
