Does the Instability Test count as a Leadership Test ala Light Magic, Light of Battle spell (always pass)? It seems yes, since the FAQ says Insane Courage applies to the roll and the Break Test is called a Leadership test. Using a Wizard with Master Sorcery, Light.

By that same token, if you're steadfast as a Daemon unit, do you take the test on unmodified leadership + Inspiring Presence if any?

What about Battle Standards? You reroll failed Leadership Tests "of any kind." But what if you fail by 4 the first time and fail by 6 the second time? Not only that, what if you basically HAVE to fail unless you roll insane courage and get a 2 wound failure that you'd like to keep, as odds are you will get higher than that if you reroll. I seem to recall reading somewhere you don't have to reroll, but I don't know where.

No idea about that Instability stuff, my skeletons are adept at crumbling without any tests

A while back the general's Inspiring Presence was compulsory (units within... ...use the general's Ld), but that was fixed with an errata (...may use the general's Ld). The Battle Standard has similar wording: re-roll failed tests (no may anywhere in sight), so you are forced to re-roll even if you wanted to keep the first fail. As with any re-roll, only the latter roll counts, so it's perfectly possible to get hosed by your own BSB.

Daemons take a ld test and waht they fail by is how many die.

The tk just die because they are not expensive.

I dont know about light magic but if you roll snake eyes no daemons die to instability no matter how horribly you loose combat as far as I understand.

You can re roll with the bsb's re roll but the re rolled result is what you take so if you failed by 1 the first time and failed by 6 the second time well then 6 wounds off the unit.

You do NOT have to re roll if you are ok like say you loose combat and your ld is 4 and say you roll 6 you can choose to take it or risk re rolling. You re roll you take the re rolled result no pick and choose.

If you loose and you are ld 7 and you roll an 11 then well might as well re roll how often do you roll box cars.

Sorry seems a little long but thats it in a nut shell.

The Battle Standard's re-roll is not optional, no cans or mays in there. If you fail by one you still failed and have to roll again.

This is easily remedied by a house rule, of course.
