So I have started ogres.

I have a chaos army and I have a lot of blue and red already a lot of tzeentch warriors and knights and a pile of red enraged khorne followers as well as blood angles.

I have nothing green and kind of like the idea of green pants since they will be chaosified ogres any thoughts.

Maybe even an Iyanden yellow.

The ogres skin was planned to be light something around Dheneb stoneish.

I dont want to paint more red and blue is the point but I do want them to look like they can be part of the chaos army.

Your thoughts?

Why do they have to have the same colour pants? I reckon it suits ogres to be random.

They may be ogres but there will be order in the ranks of chaos or Achaon is gonna back hand someone into who knows when and where.

The pants was an idea to make them seem one tribe and chaosy together.

I like order in my ranks as said and I want them to be easy to distinguish because if you get messed up by my ogres and there are survivors, then the survivors will know who messed them up and if they see those pants again that they run in terror (fluff wise).

Dheneb Stone is what I used and I use a variety of pants here is how mine turned out:



These were my first so they are kinda meh but it may give you a better idea on the skin tone.

Those look pretty good. I like the skin tone but I think I'll go with brighter pants.

Yeah I primed them black and at the time had the GW starter hobby set so those were all the foundation paints that came in that since it was hard to get non foundation to cover the black primer. WHen I go to paint more ogres I will prime black then airbrush the entire model Dheneb Stone which will allow me to use brighter colors.

Why not prime white? Or check out army painter they have awesome colored primer?

I can't airbrush I only have a small room (cuz I'm a student and am cheap ) and my landlord dosnt want a compressor in the place sooooo I use a paint brush.

But ya looks good and check out army painter could save you time.

This is also a switch for me since the only skin I have painted was my sorcerer lords arm the rest of em all are covered in armor haha.

I normaly use Privater Press Battledress green or a similar dark collor for Oger pants, seening as they most likly dont spend all their cash on Guci and what not

For chaos skin just go mad, I personally like to paint skin as if it is turning to stone by blending the edges of flesh with drybrushed white areas.

Well remember Orges don't wear clothes for uniform,they have tatoos and markings for uniform.

Pants are just to keep their butts warm.

Still I dont want to have too many colors because that then looks incoherent ya know and when they are standing next to chaos warriors who look nice and all I cant just have this mess of pants

Who says ogres don't wear designer pants? At least the tribes along the Ivory Road will have ready access to the finest silks and linens in the world.

My tribe goes for a very fashionable Enchanted Blue silk pantaloons, with traderskin belts, and the latest in ironshod boots(Fall Rust)

You make a good point see im not totally caught up on the fluff and they are going to be closer to the chaos wastes because they are more chaos ogres. I dont think they will have nice designer pants but we will see.

As for a color scheme, i would reccomend if you plan on them being chaos ogres have them in the color of the god they are aligned with. Khorne is a popular Chaos God for the Ogres, he is worshipped alongside the Maw, equal in power and importance. Skulls are offered to Khorne, and also picked meticlously clean to appease the Maw.

Hmm I have been brooding over this issue as well.
See, Ogre pants are VERY UGLY. I mean it looks fine in art work ( its closer to what Mandrakes wear in Dark Eldar ).

But the sculpt, Very no!!
Thus, i recommend either pure white, or pure black. Anything to help with erasing its existence xD

I just didnt really want to paint red I was thinking green like nurgle almost.

But khorne sounds good they may have dark red pants.
