Whiteshield Conscript Trooper

Hey, below are my first miniatures that I've just finished painting. Two guardsmen, with different colour armour, so I could decided which one I liked best. Going to go with the orange!
Comments and helpful tips for a guy starting out are most appreciated!

That is a solid start.
There is a mould line on the left guy's leg, though.

The orange definitely pops more, and is a really nice combo with the grey, brown, and white. Very nicely done!
As far as critique goes, I'd say that the edge highlighting on the red guy's gun could use some clean-up, but the same highlighting on the orange guy is already a lot more crisp so it looks like you're doing well there. The bases could use a bit more variety, maybe. I think a bit of green flock or static grass on them would be a decent contrast with the orange. Some blue/turquoise water would be even better for color contrast, but I think would be pretty hard to implement on these bases. Maybe future ones? Either way they're looking good, just a bit plain.
Are you going to be painting up an army of these guys then? And how'd you do on their faces? They can be pretty hard to get down, but they're in a lot of shadow in your pics so it's hard to tell.
All in all, awesome work, especially for your first minis.

Thanks guys!
@Zefig - The red guy I did first and just painted the highlight on his gun, but yeah thought it was a bit messy. So with the second guy I drybrushed it first and then 'thickened' it up where needed.
Yeah with the bases I wanted to put some bits of dead grass (the yellowy type), but the local shop was all sold out. :-(
Yeah going to paint my army in this scheme, currently almost got one squad done. With the faces I've done Tallarn flesh then a wash of Leviathan purple (Cheers gobble for that tip), then highlight of elf I think. I hate doing the eyes! They always seem to come out looking like they got some sort of ABI...
I'll try and post some more pics later.

Very nice. If you're starting out at that quality you should be turning out some amazing stuff in a year or so.

Not bad very nice on the guardsman. I would add some damge to the gear though, dirty them up a bit, same with tank. But good smooth tidy work.

The camo scheme is definitely unique, but I like it just for that reason.
Great work!

These are some nice guards.
Although bright orange isn't a good choice for a camo.
But they would be a good support for my blood angels so I approve them. ^^
