Here's a few of the things to be seen in this blog.

Saint Bellanya

Sisters Superheavy project

Current projects:
Biker Canoness

House Rouennais Knights:
Cerastus Knight Castigator - Dreamforge Leviathan conversion

------------------------------------------------------
Well everyone, I feel it's time I take advantage of my current excitement levels and start a blog to keep me motivated when those levels drop. I have a league coming up soon though, so...

Anyway. Sisters army in the works. On the mech side, I currently have 3 Exorcists (2 can be weapon-swapped to become Immolators), 4 Immolators, a handful of Rhinos, a Repressor, and one superheavy in the works. More on that later.

On the infantry side, I have 50-odd bolter sisters, about a dozen flamer sisters, a smattering of other special and heavy weapons, and a dozen VSSs. A few squads of Seraphim, and another unopened box of them I'm trying to decide whether to keep or not. Top it all off with a couple Canoness minis and Celestine.

The league I'm joining will run a few Apoc games over its course, and I'm pretty excited about that. As such, I'm building a custom superheavy tank for my army. It'll have flame and melta galore, along with a bit of transport capacity. There's a lot of conversion going on with it so far, and a lot more to come. I'd like to go along with the moving-cathedral sort of style, but we'll see how that turns out. Progress pics-

I have a few other ideas for Apoc in mind, and they all build on a fairly ill-defined theme at the moment. I'm whipping up a couple units of Zealots from the WD article, and I'm currently kitbashing them from a box of WGF Ancient Celts and some random IG bitz I had lying around. I'm having a lot of fun with those, and hope to get some pictures up soon. They've definitely got some character.

I also have a few inquisitors and retinue figures just in case I get the urge to run a few in the army. They're a lot lower down the priority queue though.

Theme. I've been ruminating on this army for a while, and it's gone through some evolution. Originally I'd had them attached to a Rogue Trader as the core of an expeditionary army sort of thing, and I may well still involve aspects of that. At the time, their paint scheme would have been something like this:

After that I got an airbrush and became interested in doing an army with a sort of spacey paint scheme, which I tested out on a rhino as an evolution of the preceding design scheme.

Currently, I have a few other ideas but they've got me a bit torn. Because of the way the Sisters tend to get beat up on in the fluff, I thought it might be fun to start up a renegade army of them who've just had enough of the Imperium. This could be a convenient excuse to throw in lots with a more understanding Rogue Trader, still working for the good of the Imperium but away from the politics of Terra. Now, I also find Boudica's revolt to be a particularly compelling bit of history, and it started just down the road from where the English side of my family is from. I'd therefore quite like to base the renegade sisters at least loosely on that revolt. As part of this, I'm considering adding woad patterns to the bone-colored parts of the armor, even vehicles, and to a lot of the exposed faces and whatnot. This would be especially great to do on the Zealots. After the little episode in the new GK codex though, I might even do the patterns in red rather than blue. Undecided on that at the moment though. If I DO go down that route though, I'm thinking that the minis might end up a bit too busy if I tried to implement both the woad AND the space-art bits. It'd take a helluva lot longer to paint too, so there's that. I'd appreciate any creative input on that before I start putting more paint down.

So. If you've read this far, thanks! I'll try to keep this updated fairly regularly.

This is probably a bad time to post this army up here seeming SoB will be getting a new codex soon.
But anyway, great work so far!

I'm fully aware of that, but even "soon" won't be before the end of this league. If I can get that much use out of it, I'll be cool with it. Bring on the change after that

Progress! I have 2 more immolators in and a few more heavy weapons sisters. I've also made some progress with my custom bits seen here, which I'm planning on using with this army. Mostly, though, I've made some progress on my superheavy.

It's coming along, although most of it's being held together with poster tac here while I make sure everything fits together right.
Current armament:
2 sponson-mounted flamestorm cannons
2 sponson-mounted twin-linked multi-meltas
2 hull-mounted twin-linked heavy flamers
hull-mounted twin-linked heavy bolters

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet about a main cannon. The leading option in my mind is to have a few devil dog melta cannons sticking out of the arch window on the front. Either twin-linked, or possibly even 2 twin-linked ones that fire as a single weapon. I'm not sure if I'll go that way yet though because the melta cannons seem to be fairly hard to come by through the bitz services. I might try looking into the swap shop here.

The other major aspect of the build I'm not sure about yet is the rear. I currently have the stormlord troop compartment on the mock-up. I do have a ton of the cities of death low walls that I'd like to use to gothic up that compartment, but I'm not sure that's really enough though, and it'd leave the back looking an awful lot like the bed of a pickup truck. Which I guess I'd like to avoid. All in all I feel like the back is lacking and the whole piece is far too front-heavy, at least in regard to detail. So, my fellow dakkanauts, any good ideas for balancing things out?

The last issue- this baby needs a name. I'm thinking something along the lines of Cathedral/Chapel/Shrine of _________. Maybe. I'd love to hear all your ideas though.

Very, very impressive work

For the main cannon, how about a scaled up inferno cannon? You know, for more of the cleansing flame theme.

How about:

Holocaust cannon

Range: Apocalypse flame template
Strength: X (wounds on a 4+, on a 2+ against daemons. Strength 7 against vehicles)
AP: 3
Type: Heavy 1

Conflagration of Heretics: If a unit takes an unsaved wound from the Holocaust cannon, it must immediately take a LD test/morale check at -1 to its usual LD value. If it fails, it must fall back (using the normal 'fall back' rules) in a straight line away from the Superheavy. Also, any unit that takes an unsaved wound from the Holocaust cannon will recieve another D3 wounds in the next turn, as the blessed flames continue to burn.

It would be really interesting if you could somehow tie in some of the religious zealot theme that embodies the inquisition. I wish I could think of some ideas to help but my mind is blank at the moment!

Potato-Thanks! I like the idea of giant melta for two reasons. First, as far as I know there aren't any other Imperial super heavies with them, so that would differentiate this. Second, I've already got 4 flame templates coming off of this thing a turn. However, I really, really like what you've come up with for the holocaust cannon. This gives me a lot of incentive to magnetize that spot, which would also have the effect of letting me build up the cathedral part now rather than waiting until I decide.

White Wolf- Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. Please excuse the laziness, it'll be vertical in the final design.

And the rest of you lot - Thanks for the comments and the names! I shall take them under consideration.

Fill in the blank?

Chapel of Chastity (then write something along the lines of "Nothing is as pure as I" on the hull, and then "Britta" [aka water filter brand] on the main cannon.

Well, while there is a Land Raider variant thus named, seeing that amount of flamethrowers made me think of only one thing, or rather person. Now, sing with me, ladies and gentlemen: "Glory, glory the Redeemer, glory, glory the Redeemer!" Alternatively, well, look up the names of important places in Dante's "Divine Comedy" - "The Sword of Dis", with Dis being the hottest part of Inferno would be quite right in my opinion.

I've worked on the super heavy a little bit, but not really enough to justify more pics. I think I've decided to scrap the Shadowsword superstructure in favor of a scratch-built one. Hope to get a bit more done this weekend, along with a few games.

In the meantime, a few pics of the daunting painting task ahead of me.

The army. Tanks on left, special weapons in the middle, HQ up front, seraphim and rabble in the back, bolter sisters on far right.

The non-superheavy tanks. Most of them are magnetized, the rocket-pod exorcists can easily be used as immolators, and the repressor is currently sporting an old immolator turret modded to fit on top, in case anyone gets butthurt over me using forgeworld.

Just the bolter sisters.

The rabble. 3 priests, 7 repentia that I'll be using as eviscerator zealots, and the rest are zealots built from WGF ancient celts and some random IG bits. They're mostly pretty crappy, but I've been having fun with them.

Personally I hope you go Woad! If your going for the Boudiccan theme the Superheavy's got to be a Chariot! How does the Chariot of Retribution sound? Maybe for the armament an Inferno Cannon like the Warhound or a Melta cannon from the Warlord in the Apocalypse book? For the rear I like the image of pews and a pulpit!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. It is an oath we honour. Llamahead, you brilliant son of a gun...time to see if I can either find, sculpt, or plasticard some very small galloping horses for a decorative bas-relief. I think this'll leave me a lot happier with the general shape of the "cathedral" bit too. Let's hope I'm not getting in over my head.

I actually really liked the angled front of the Super Heavy cathedral. It added the cathedral-esque feel without looking like someone put a cathedral on superheavy tracks. The profile body lines would look pretty sweet with the angled windows and some huge meltaredeemerholocaustmessiah cannon (or whatever else it might be) coming to bear on the world.

Keep up the good work! Subscribed!
