Nottingham (yay!)

Nids being such a short range oriented force with a lot of T6 on the important stuff, what role is there for 250pts of short ranged S4 coming on from any edge?

Main thing I can think of is driving a Genestealer unit off an objective in cover, but that does rely on them being within 12" of the edge when they know Snikrot is round. If they get lucky and are supported by lotsa rockets, they might be able to finish off a Tervigon. Perhaps their main role will simply be to act as a scarecrow and herd the cannon fodder away from the edges until they arrive? This being the case, perhaps there might be some synergy with Lobbas and Boomguns, to take advantage of bottlenecking?

If you are playing against 'Nids you are porbably winning anyway. Why kick a dog while it is down ay`?

If there is one army where you can come prepared for a firendly game, while the other player is tournament practesing it is against nids. Just bring the Snikrot.

I haven't used Snikrot against Tryanids, but with the massive model count that Nids have, I'm sure he could be useful.

They'd be great for attacking Hive Guard or Biovores hiding out in terrain near the edges, or Tervigons that are hanging back.

In general I think orks have to sit back against 'nids, I have never seen any other way. As such I suppose a unit that comes on any edge if you run out of range is useful.

The only really use of snikrot and his kommandoz would be ambushing something squishy near a short table edge. The missing PK doesn't make him work too well against the tyranid's high toughness stuff.

As for kicking someone who is down: I've always found tyranids to be one of the harder matchups. The might be screwed by the newer codices but not really against orks.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

One of my regular opponents almost always plays a very hard to beat take all comers Nid list and has repeatedly defeated my Orks since 3rd edition. I can beat any other Nid list on the planet, but he must generate some death field that makes my boyz just lay down and die!

As for Snikrot, I've honestly never had a good use for him aganst Nids. The only time he was ever truly useful was when he ambushed from the side of the board right behind an outflankng genestealer group and relieved the almost destroyed slugga mob he charged the turn eariler.

During last week's League game we were playing Dow Annihilation my opponent's Nids deployed first, rushed my lines, and it was mutual destruction.

I had my KFF Mek break from his unit right before they suicide rushed a Tyranid MC. He ran away and hid in very un-Orky fashion behind a building.

Anywho, the point is when Snik and his unit finally made it on the board and I deployed him in the far back opposite corner. Had he come in at any other time, there is a good chance his unit would have just died with out accomplishing much.

The game ended up in an almost exact tie due to KFF Mek and Snik hiding. To answer your OP, Tyranids might be the least helpful time to use Snik but when not knowing ahead of time your opponent's army, he usually a great deal.
