on the forum. Obviously

What exactly does GW do with old models?

Do the employees sell them?

Or are they stored away in some warehouse, raiders of the lost ark style?

They are destroyed if made of plastic or resin or reprocessed if they are made of metal.

nah, as others have pointed out previously, they label them as "classics" and sell them for more money.

Look up the old Berzerkers and Thousand sons etc. on GW website. They cost MORE lol

YMDC has plenty of room for discussion veering away from the RAW, particularly in cases like this where what is being put forward as the RAW is absurd.

Or they just stop producing it all together and let it sell out, ala the metal Warplightning Cannon.

Alot of old models end up mothballed away in retail stores as well Time Warp in NJ sometimes pulls out huge dusty boxes of all sorts of old models, and they sell extremly fast.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

I find old models wind up in the "storage area" of gamers like me who truly think they will get around to them (usually at retirement when they cannot paint small detail).

GW is always hungry for money so they can never resist holding some "sale" for whatever is lingering around so we get sucked in against better judgement.

They are ground into a fine dust then are fed into the ventilation system of independent retailers to give them cancer.

Thats the future plan, they didn't have resin before. The lead ones though they melted down and attached to pipes in customers homes so people would pay more when they swapped to a cheaper material to make the models in.

Twice now....

When they released Finecast, GW stores had to send the metal ones back to Memphis, but some stores got all the metal models sent back. So they remain in limbo, or as Necros said, are on the island of Misfit Toys waiting for Rudolf....

Well, when we moved from 6721 Baymeadow to 6711, there was a bunch (as in a good-sized room) of returned and discontinued codes that were just thrown away. That also happened a few times before that when the warehouse was still in 6721 and the bitz service was still active. One time in particular, there were some pallets of blisters of metal Black Orcs, Warmaster Skaven, and some other codes, mostly Specialist Games that one of the warehouse managers let us pick over before it got chucked. Needless to say, I think he got fired over it as they just wanted it destroyed and not used by anyone who would care about it. You would think that the metal and plastic could get reground and recast, but the labor involved in cracking the packaging made it about six or seven times more expensive than just casting new product if I remember the numbers right.
