Hi, Dakka. Now, just getting another Chaos Lord, and want to suit him up to play my Grey Knight friend. Now, I know what your thinking....Chaos against Grey Knights? Wow. But, I really want to match him in a small thousand points game. I have not made my list yet, but wanted to know the best weapon upgrades for him, and the best Mark of Chaos. So, which would be best? Oh, he runs a full Paladin list with Draigo, and I need the best upgrades for taking out Paladins. Thanks.

So, is a MOS good? I mean, It does boost the I up by one. That way, I can go first in CC.

I play against Grey Knights a lot with C:SM and it is pretty much a pain in the ass to play against them. For wargear, taking MOS is pointless as with the GK spell 'Quicksilver' they strike first.

You want a LOT of meltaguns and multi-meltas. Reason being, they're cheap and paladins die to them VERY quickly. Take a bunch of chosen in rhinos, do drive-by's with melta guns and watch the paladins crumble. Should be a relatively easy game for you. Skip the marks, unless they already have an invul save, then use Tzeentch to improve it. You want more numbers with more melta guns. 2 units of chosen with melta guns on each model in a rhino will run you 380, plus your lord, troops, and add obliterators as your heavies to round out the last few points and have them sit in the backfield and snipe with lascannons. Should be a pretty easy game for you. Sample list
Lord: no wargear (maximize points for melta guns and units)
Elite: 2 units of chosen, both with 5 melta guns and a champion, rhino with combi melta (brings to 400)
Troops: 3 squads of 5 CSM in rhino with melta gun and combi melta on rhino
Heavy: 2 obliterators, seperate units. This gives you a TON of firepower that will insta-kill paladins, ignore FNP and armor saves. It's also 1000pts on the dot. Good luck

This gives you up to 20 melta shots a turn. You might be able to kill his entire army in a single turn. Also, obliterators give you unmatched shooting options, able to change each turn.

Alright, thank you for the advice. Last time I played him, he beat me down. But, I realized he was cheating. Now, I just want to play a match in which he cannot cheat, and I can have fun.

MOS is only good on a Lord for quickly IDing ICs with a daemon weapon. Except now, everyone seems to be immune to that. You could give him Terminator armour, MOS and two lightning claws, which would probably take down a lot of GKs. Blissgiver isn't really worth the possible wound when its effect is negated so often IMO. Alternatively, Sorceror with Lash + Obliterators/Havocs/Noise Marines works pretty well too.

Ah, yes, I meant best upgrades for a Terminator Lord...

Mark of Slaanesh and a Daemon Weaopn would let you hit first and cause instant death, which would be really helpful against paladins.

Ar, an Instant Death power weapon. I'm not too fond of them lately, because I seem to have a 50% chance of rolling a 1 with them.

What does the Nurgle Weapon do? With the Hammerhand +1 Str, the Mark of Nurgle can make the difference between wounding on 3+ or 4+, or even 2+.

Not worth it. I would go with a MoS, becuase only 1 unit can benefit from Quicksilver, and that is only if he has a Libby, and only then iof ther Libby pays for them power.

I'm pretty sure if the squad casts it everyone gets it.

A unit within 6" of the Libby casting it gains Int 10 till the end of the phase.

Its still pointless unless the Lord gets up to I7 because all GK units will have a bunch of Halberds(I6) who may just gib the Chaos Lord right then and there.

1 Halberd is one less Hammer, sword or Flachion, or Stave. No sword= worse 5++. No Hammer means harder to wound you. No Flachions=less attacks. No Stave=easier to kill.

None of those matter if the Halberd kills you before you swing, and with the potential of a Hammerhand from an attached character it's likely to wound.

I play Thousand Sons, w/ Termy Lord and Termies all with Marks of Tzeench.

Nothing else says feth you, like an armor of 4++ saves and AP 3 Bolters.

Also i am a Fan of the Defiler, but they are hit or miss. If you can get them into combat they will win you games. Always take 2.

MOT with powerfist for that invul is a good idea too.
