Now first off,I'm glad to GW making bigger kits, new tech means that it will be cheaper to make more models.
But here is something that is worrying me somewhat.
New Orcs and Goblins=New Giant Spider.
New Skaven=New Giant Hell Pit thingy.
New Tomb Kings=New Giant Sphinx.
New Orges=New Giant Stonehorn.
I mean,is every army going to end up having at least one giant thing? Even if it makes no sense, like the Empire, they shouldn't have anything bigger then the steam tank.
The same for Warriors of Chaos,Dwarfs and the 3 Elves.
Is Warhammer just going to turn into Clash of the Titans.

40K has been accompanying each new codex release with a big new monster as well. It's kind of inevitable when you consider we're looking at a game built around a business that is there to sell models - they're going to keep thinking of new stuff to sell us whenever they can.
I agree that Empire and some others don't seem to need big creatures, but so far I can't think of a big unit that was totally inappropriate, so at this point all we can do is hope they'll either think of something very cool or show some restraint.

It may very well turn into clash of the titans, but would that be a bad thing?
The only race I stuggle to see with a big monster is the dwarves. Elves could get dragons and Empire gryphins/hipogryhps, but I can see for the life of me what the Dwarves would get.

Dwarfs could have some steam driven robot or something crazy.
The new large kits are kind of nice lots of modeling options and ya some are even effective.

I could see Empire being released with a generic dragon for any army to take.
The only army I can think of where a truly large model wouldn't fit would be Bretonnians.

The Empire already has two models available for griffons, and has had such for a long time now. The new kits are much bigger than that.

Oh there will be some kind of Grail Chapel on wheels or something daft like that. Don't underestimate GW's current capacity for the ridiculous.
My main issue with the big stuff is that it messes with the scale of the game. Stick a few monsters on 6' by 4' board and there's not much of a battlefield left, particularly if both players have a horde or two as well. In Fantasy, the battlefield is half the game.

Well outside of the Hellpit it seems more of novelty than a competitive choice. If my death shaman doesn't snipe it down my bestigor will chop through it easily, my dwarfs will put a cannon through it's head once or twice, mourfang may be able to take them down with impact hits alone. I see them about the same as I see Giants in most army, their is the psychological factor due to their size and possibility of what they can do if the pieces fall in all the right places but generally I would field it so that cannons and war machines spend a turn shooting it rather then shooting my elite blocks which are the real threat.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Honestly, the bigger untis are what recently drew me to WHFB. Before it just seemed like armies were based on infantry, cavalry and chariots and that repeated in a lot of armies (of course that's not the real case, but from a glance while I played 40k that's what I thought). The monsters though bring something to the eye and are definately a fun thing to paint and assemble. Plus, they give each army something unique and very indicative of the army. I would agree that certain armies like dwarves and empire would be a stretch to have monsters (maybe dwarves could have a steam construction thingy as others have mentioned). Sure they may not all be tactically viable to take, but they are cool looking, so if you dont like them you dont have to take them.

Given they charge baneblade prices for 5 knights made from finecast resin i doubt they need bigger to go for larger revenue.
As for our giant Dawi kit; air ships.
/checkmate for Dwarven explotation
As for warriors of chaos, greenskins, and whatever else may have it; the giants is pretty big.

The woc giant is nice especially with asf
I like the idea of the bigger monsters like the ogres thundertusk.
It makes itself a priority to deal with leaving the other ogres to run around and do ogre things.
Mournfang canv equal awesome plain and simple they are nasty and are worth their points no questions asked.
The giant spider is pretty cool same goes for the tk big models.
Its nice to have the option to take them and that they are usable. (as in they have their purpose and are not a waste of points).
The kits are really awesome is the main things cool bits and sweet things you can do and such whats not to like.
We are talking about a world with magic and crazy shenanigans so giant monsters go hand in hand with that and who knows that could be what the next ed is based around.
