Hey Dakkites,
Brought my old Night Lords back out again after just getting the new Chaos Codex in the mail. I've come across one small issue. Some of mine have Bolters on the Marines, Some have pistols, and some have close combat weapons, however in the standard marine listing they all have bolters, bolt pistols, and close combat weapons. Am I violating a WYSIWYG rule here or with things like that is it just assumed they all have them if it's in the original listing (like grenades for example.) Really don't want to hap-hazardly glue random bolters or chainswords onto nice looking (in my eyes) models. Thanks!

Most people play that a model's basic wargear is assumed to be there, regardless of what the model actually has (unless he is clearly armed with an upgrade weapon). You could always discretely add whichever weapons the models don't have and call it a day, if you're still unsure. Otherwise, just let your opponent know and you'll be fine most of the time (you may get the occasional person who might disagree).

As Cheexsta said, even if you don't model it, basic wargear is assumed to be there. Most people don't give all their Space Marines bolt pistols, but noone argues whether they have them or not (codex says they do btw)

You should be safe. Most places that uphold WYSIWYG want you to at least model 'upgrades'... default gear like like bolt pistols for marines not being modeled is fine.

For marines where they have bolders, bolt pistol and CCW, there are no alternatives so it is basic equipment.

For Orks where they have Slugga/choppa OR shootas, one is a clear upgrade which means they have to be distinguished as shootas are not 'basic equipment' and you can't have one model represent both units.

Yeah, that is just fine. They all come with that gear, so it is ok.

You don't have to represent standard wargear, you only have to represent non-standard stuff, like flamers, melta guns, ect.

It's so annoying having to model combi-weapons on my Champs. Why couldn't they have a sprue option for it instead of forcing me to haphazardly attach a flamer bit to my bolt pistol.

Would you guys say putting two Chainswords on a CSM would be ok with regard to WYSIWYG? His guns are tucked in his pants...

Generally WYSIWYG at tournaments is not applied to standard equipment. So as long as they look like Chaos marines, people know they have BP, Bolter, Chainsword + Frag & Krak, even if they arent modelled on there.

Wait, so with a Tac Squad, I can choose to fire pistols before I assault, and then get 3 attacks each on the charge? (1 base, +1 CCW and Pistol, +1 for assaulting)?

Yes, you can fire the pistol before charging.

No, you do NOT get A3 on the charge. Tactical Marines have Bolter and Bolt Pistol, they do NOT have a chainsword meaning they have 1 single handed close combat weapon.

Still beautiful. Haven't been using that at all, just bee firing a single melta or flamer and then rushing in.

I just realized that myself a couple games ago. I use it all the time now with the bolt pistols.

Whether it's a chainsword or not doesn't matter. Pg 37, BRB, second bullet point, clearly states two single-handed weapons (close-combat weapon and/or pistols) grants an extra attack.Along with the single base attack and the charge bonus, yes, chaos marines get 3 attacks on the charge. Apparently, a switchblade is yet another gift of the chaos gods.

Tac marines (what nos was responding to) don't have a CCW and a bolt pistol - they only have the pistol. Therefore, no extra attack.

No, thats why I mentioned Tac squad. I also noted that a BP is a single handed weapon in my response, oddly enough i know that....

CSM are assumed to have BP/CCW/bolters on them, so I can't see anyone demanding that you model all of those. Unless they're a dick, in which case you should slap em' or something.
