The graviton gun is supposed to be more powerful against larger targets right? Would that make it like the Doctor Device, which can even destroy celestial bodies by using their mass against them? Does this gun only work up to a certain point?

The Doctor Device is the doomsday doohickey from Ender's game yes?
There might be a certain point where it doesn't work...
Is it man portable?
It would be a b*tch to miss slightly and hit the ground instead of the carnifex you were aiming for...
Maybe there are some inbuilt 'safety' features to stop it killing everything...

Probably, though I imagine something that's able to inflict as much damage on a fortress wall as an ordinatus would make one hell of a crater.
And yes, it is usable by space marines, so man-portable.
And yes, that is the weapon to which I was referring. Doctor Device.

Well then. If it does have unlimited capabilities it probably has a myriad of safety features built in to stop it killing everyone on the planet with a stray shot.

That's what I was thinking, but there was no mention of any safety features, hence this topic, to see if there was any mention of one.

Each gun is a rare relic left over from the Dark Age of Technology and are now sacredly guarded by the Adeptus Mechanicus, and very rarely will they allow one to leave their armouries, but some Space Marine Chapters still field a handful of such weapons. The weapon fires a stream of particles which affects the local gravitational field of a target area, making the targeted object either far heavier or lighter depending on the weapon's setting. The gun also creates a bass rumble as the waves affect the local air pressure, causing the air to vibrate. The effect is generally non-lethal and can be used to incapacitate foes who need to be captured alive, but the power of the graviton gun's highest settings is sufficient to rupture organs and crack bones even inside armour. Some living targets will be affected more variably; a very large creature may be killed under excessive weight, but most targets will either be slowed or completely immobilised. The graviton gun is very useful when fighting on a star ship or a null gravity enviroment, as well as for for demolition and siege work, as it is most effective against massive objects such as bunkers or fortifications, where the building's great mass can be used against it, causing it to collapse. And no, that's nothing like the Molecular Disruption Device (MD Device, or Dr. Device) from Ender's Game - it basically rips atoms apart at the molecular level.

No, the Graviton Gun is as old as Warhammer 40,000.

The only parallel I was drawing is that they cause more damage on bigger targets.
