So, I know for a fact that Teclis will be showing up. Aside from that, the HE list could have anything in it, and I mean any unit in the book. Even ones that are not considered competitive. Player is highly skilled, although he hasn't played much 8th edition, but he is very familiar with the HE book and its properties.

The list might have allied Brettonians, but I would say its a low chance.

He usually runs Teclis with lore of life, but I wouldn't put it past him to take shadow or death.

My mind starts to get fuzzy at this high a point level, but I might think about the cold dude, forget its name and I don't feel like reaching 2 feet away to get it even though it took more effort to type this sentence.

You'd get the stone thrower which will be good against any massed archers and help if you get into combat with some elite infantry. Though the model does look stupid. Also a scraplauncher would be good against those sissy T elvies. I'd say far more than Ironblasters (though you'd want at least one of those).

Well, Thundertusk's kinda lose the effect of the ASL aura against HEs as it only removes their rerolls. the shooting attacks are nice, but I frankly detest the model. at least compared to the Stonehorn's awsomesauce.

What would I drop to get a couple of Scraplaunchers?

I don't know, but you do have 4 casters and you're probably not going to fill out that many dice. You could always swap 1 Ironblaster for a Scrappy.

If hes bringing Teclis, inst it a good idea to take 6 ME with braces, poison and sniper and kill him turn 1?

Then you could take a 2nd fire SM instead and burn the 2 hordes of WL hell probably be taking.

4 casters with 2d6 is too many imo. Just pay the butcher tax to free a lore for your SM and you could take another butcher with beasts sig and be done with 3 casters and some nice arcane slots.

Not too keen on 3 LB if your taking 2 IBs to deal with chaff eh, 2 IBs should deal with the eagles.

Hmmm, I don't have any MEs, but I could probably sacrifice 3 Ironguts and make 3 with Brace and Sniper.

There are no Igs in your list!

I know, i know you meant bulls

You could just swap the 4th caster and LBs for 6 MEs.

You gotta prepare for eagle spam and that frenzied stonehorn can be taken out the game

No, I actually meant IGs. I don't have any ME models so I was saying I could swap 3 of them over to ME duty. It was a matter of actually posessing the models to have as MEs.

ah, still imo 3 is too few in a unit, esp at that point size. With 6, 12 shots you may get 3 6s to kill him off completely. More dice more chances of 6s

I feel that a unit of 3 would be easier to get into position and would draw less attention. Besides, all I really have to do is wound him enough to where when I let off the Hellheart the Str10 hit he will likely take will be enough to kill him.

a unit of 6 BoH MEs is really expensive and kinda gimmiky. 3 is less of an investment towards such a one-shot wonder unit.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Altered list to fit in 3 Maneaters.

Dropped Firebelly, moved Dispell Scroll to lvl3, dropped power stone, shaved gnoblars down.

I decided to take Heavens instead on the Lvl3. Harmonic Convergence, Curse, and Iceshard will probably be a little more useful that just gunning for Teclis, especially since I have MEs now.

I don't completely understand why you are taking a Dispel Scroll. His wizards (Teclis, probably supported by a Book of Hoeth Archmage) will be casting with IF a lot. Anything not cast with IF, you should be able to dispel using your dispel dice.

Additionally, I would consult with your opponent on Slaughtermasters being allowed Magic Armour. If you were playing me than I would refuse to play against this illegal list...

SM are allowed to wear magic armor because of Ironfists. Some people don't think that Ironfists are armor, but there really isn't any solid evidence to back that stance up.

I was going through it yesterday and the fist counts as a shield. Then reading page 172 of the mini rule book. Ge has the option for armor or a shield so he can take it.

Other than that I'd like to see more leadies they are just too fun and a unit or 2 of 6 awesome fun.

Overview of the WoC army book.

I don't know if you have read the topic in the YMDC forum, but after about 5 pages it boiled down to both sides having proper arguments so must wait for it to be FAQed. This is exactly why I said you should probably consult with your opponent before hand.

No, it doesn't count as a shield. Count as a shield looks like this: "count(s) as a shield." Or "shield." It doesn't say that anywhere in the book. Just like an Ironblaster, even though it says you fire it as a cannon, is actually a Chariot. It therefore can't do the things war machines can do, as it is not a war machine.

Some people don't think that Ironfists are armor, but there really isn't any solid evidence to back that stance up.

It's certainly not armor (light armor, heavy armor) or it would be swapped-out if you purchased magical armor and you should remove it from your character profile for your slaughtermaster as the Armor of Destiny would supersede it. You can't have both if they both "armor." It MAY be a shield. There is no "solid evidence" to back up that it is. It WORKS like one, but there is no rule in the BRB which governs magical equipment purchases that matches that wording.

So per the other dead horse thread, knock yourself out with your own rulings. But as soon as you try and sneak in the, "nyah nyah, we're right, everyone else is wrong," into an army thread or any other, you'll please remember at least half the people in the mega thread disagreed.

The Ironfist follows all the rules for shields with an additional rule.

One of the rules for shields is that they allow a Wizard to take magic armor.

I am utterly unconvinced by the opposition and will use the above logic till GW rules it one way or the other.

Now, discussion of the army list. Assuming that the Ironfist allows armor.

I wouldnt say 6 ME snipers are gimmiky. With 6s shot you may never roll a 6.

A unit of 6 in melee with posion is brutal too (extra attack too cos of the brace).

There is no better way to kill him than a simple snipe. Also is a great deterent for if he coming within 24" for a mega spell, does he want to risk you rolling 3 6s with 12 shots? For him, there is no defence apart from staying 24 + 6" away=you wont get nuked and you can seriously hem him and his army in a corner and take the initiative re movement.

Id pay ~180p extra in a 3500k point game for that!

Not to mention 2W BSBs. Magic defence and character snipe all in one.

edit: T2 eh, you dont really need poison, freeing up another tasty option.

I am largely wary of 6 also because I don't want to detract from the rest of the army.

3 will likely attract less attention and be easier to scout somewhere nasty.

Phhooar, imagine this..

Scouting sniping MEs deployed 18"-12" away from him. You win 1st turn. move into short range, send out 12 shots hitting on 5s now. 4 hits ave, 4 wounds ave. Dead Teclis.

Their Turn 1, messed up battle plans, turn to meet 6 meaty ME, your T2, charge who you like

Oh just imagine

Well, seriously, you got a good chance to deploy 18" from him and a good chance to go 1st. Even if you didnt itll take a lot to wipe out 6ME, Ld8 with gleaming pennant. Most likely his hammer unit is away somewhere facing your hammer and his shooting wont be enough and hell have one shot at an uber spell to get rid of you.

Won the game by a solid 170ish points.

All he had left was a unit of PG with Teclis, Caradryan, and the BSB, and a unit of 8 Archers.

I would have won by more if I had quit trying to kill those last PG. the rest of the army basically fell apart, aided by a few poor rolls on his part at key times. Like his Lvl4 death mage with Vortex Shard(who got Purple Sun) failing his LoS against an IB shot(which really stole the ME's thunder) and his Bolt Thrower's missing 2/3 of their shots the whole game(and failing to wound with 1/2 the shots that did hit)
