I see people on the forums saying "Thats a bit overkill IMO" whats that meant to mean. I can't field this unit because it is to good?

The unit has killing power (Ranged or melee) that could be cut down on to save points...
Though IMO there is no such thing as overkill... only redundant affirmation of fire superiority.

overkill would be having a squadron of 3 leman russes. They all have to shoot their ordinance at the same target, so unless you're really unlucky, the first or second will have wiped out the target squad, leaving the third unable to fire and generally pretty useless.

IMO, Overkill is when you assault 30 Gretchin with 3 units of 3 Carnifexes, which they can't hurt.

IMO, also, Overkill doesn't exist. There is killing, and then beating the dead bodies.

There's no such thing as overkill. Only just enough kill and "OMFG, I need to reload".

Overkill is a rule in WHFB.

Just think of the Quake 3 Announcer when ever you overkill someone's unit.

Or failing that, just use the Mortal Combat Announcer voice.

In game terms, overkill does exist and can be very detrimental.

For instance, what works very well against SM's, tough units armed with lots of powerweapons and all sorts of special rules for instance, often is utterly wasted against an opponent like IG or Tau where a far cheaper unit would achieve the same result making such units often empty/wasted points. It's one reason why some opponents and army builds have trouble with armies like IG.

Eg, if you build a klist with lots of High Str, Low AP weapons to fight a MEQ, but end up playing a Nid Horde, and the only way to kill that Gant brood is to unlooad the firepower of a LR Punisher Squadron of 3 into 15 gants.

many would say that is overkill, mostly the Nid player. I say that I am playing a game.

Equip those Punishers with HB sponsons and stubbers and keep the hull HB and roll those 96 D6 one at a time. That is mental overkill.

2. The Berserkers completely obliverate the enemies.
3. The Berserkers notice how there are three squads of plasmavets staring right at them in rapid-fire range.
