I'm planning to make a (post-heresy) Thousand Sons sorcerer out of the Emperor's champion model. I have a pretty good image of what i want in my mind (And all the bits to do it) but im stuck on one thing. I want him to have an open hand with either a ball of flames coming out of it or lightning coursing around his arm coming from the hand. I'm having trouble locating a tutorial that will help me with this, since i am a very novice sculptor, and have very little practice.

So I'm looking for a way to achieve this with either bits (which would be perfect) or a simple GS build.

Suggestions?

The lightning I've seen has all been made of wire and then painted, as for flames there are a few tutorials for making them out of glue.

Essentially for the fire it's a rough ball of glue, green stuff, liquid nails, etc. Then you sort of pick at it a little with the sharp end of your sculpting tool, modelling knife or even a metal skewer or toothpick. You're aiming to flick it up a little remembering that the last is essentially going to be the center of it as it will be the highest point.

Depending on how big you want the fire you may want to add in some wire for support.

For lightning you need thin jeweler's wire, I think maybe 18 gauge I'm not sure haven't done it. Then you take needle nose pliers and bend it in places.

Here's a tutorial on it. It's pretty much the same technique as n0t_u's advice, but with some pictures.

Remember to paint your fire with the brightest parts in the recesses! (pet peeve)

Not that many people link to their own tutorials, really. Or change gender between one forum and another. Just sayin'. The picture is the end result of the tutorial.

Also, you can use the flame arm from the plastic possessed kit. Can send you one, if you need.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
