I'm listening to Beasts of War, and they keep mentioning dual CC weapons re-roll to hit. Is that a special rule for walkers or does this apply to most things?

That is not even a rule for walkers. No idea what they're on about, are they talking about one unit in particular?

Simply having two close combat weapons does not give you a re-roll to hit, no matter what type of unit it is. Walkers, Jump Infantry, Beasts, whatever. They don't get rerolls to hit just for having two weapons.

Certain close combat weapons and special rules are what will give you the rerolls to hit. Preferred enemy USR, Chaplains in the C:SM, and other examples that I can't think of before I've had my second cup of tea this morning.

One of my favorite sets of rule questions or Tactics based around bad rules always begins with "So I was watching a Beasts of war video..." Then the next things that come out of the player is always backwards and turned upside down.

Dual Scything Talons allow re-rolls to hit... but those aren't even CCWs.

Yeah, I'll just assume it's an error, I think it was during the furioso part of their BA video, but that re-rolls to wound and not because it has two close combat weapons.

BA Dreads with Blood Talons re-roll to-wound due to having them count as Lighting Claws.

Not that this makes BoW's assertion that they can re-roll to hit valid in any way...

It does make me think that there's something lost in translation though. Call it rules hearsay. I'd like to see the video in question, if I could sit through their horrible unscripted mealy-mouthed videos.

Only ccw I can think of off the top of my head that re-rolls to hits doesn't require it to be dual weapons, Wolf Claws, they are like Lightning Claws by give the option of either Re-roll hits or Re-roll wounds.

I took one for the team(it hurt).

It was the one who always gives poor advise with bad rules(Daryl or something to that effect); who had only ever gone against it once(ad decided to alter his entire army, just in case he ever goes up against one again; instead of just realizing that he should shoot it, not get in CC).

There is a possibility that he was referring to the to-wounds, which is still wrong because that is not dependent on having 2 of the CCWS.

But he did say "I believe they can get re-rolls, because they've got two of these (buggers? I really cannot understand the word used here)" so the guy in the other chair(holding the codex-mind you) say "two weapons, yes, yes, two weapons" while nodding in agreement about the re-rolls.

I reached this point in the video (all agonizing 6:49 of it to this point); and that was it, I was done. I had endured to the bit I needed to see for myself.

They probably got confused because you need both weapons to do the blender abilities with the Talons. Gotta love people with a cursory knowledge and a video camera.

Sounds like they might have been confused about Blood Talons and the additional attacks they can gain?
