This week’s newsletter has a plethora of exciting Space Marine Rhino-related releases: the MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhino, first available at Games Day UK, Rhino and Land Raider door sets for the Minotaurs Chapter, and our redesigned Rhino/Predator Reinforced Armour set. As well as all this there’s a snippet of events news for you too.

MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhino

The ubiquitous Rhino Armoured Personnel Carrier is a mainstay of the Space Marine Chapters, and has been in continuous use for over ten thousand years. Its true origins are more distant still, and ancient records mention the RH1-N-0 Tracked Exploration and Multi-purpose Defence Vehicle accompanying explorator missions during Mankind’s Golden Age. Later, as the armies of the Imperium marched across the galaxy, the Rhino was re-armed and re-purposed for military use, and remains a mainstay of its might to this day.

There are many patterns and designs of this robust vehicle, and the MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhino is amongst one of the oldest variants, first issued en-masse to the Space Marine Legions of the Great Crusade. This pattern is armed with two turret-mounted bolters, slaved to the target-logis systems of the Rhino’s machine spirit, rather than the pintle-mounted storm bolter seen on the later MkIIc design that was more readily adopted after the Horus Heresy.

The MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhino, designed by Daren Parrwood, is a complete resin and plastic kit that contains a standard Games Workshop Rhino kit as well as sufficient resin conversion components to construct the MkIc Deimos Pattern variant. This detailed and evocative kit is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 28th November.

Minotaurs Land Raider and Rhino Door Sets
A mysterious and darkly famed Chapter, the Minotaurs played a major part in the prosecution of the Badab War. Adding their full strength to the Loyalist cause, they were most lauded for their brutal and unrelenting near-destruction of the Secessionist Lamenters during the Battle of Optera.

Designed by Simon Egan, this set of detailed Minotaurs Land Raider Doors and Minotaurs Rhino Doors will be despatched in the week commencing 28th November. Both of these accessory kits are compatible with the full range of Space Marine vehicles available both from Forge World and Games Workshop, except for the MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhino which they are not compatible with.

Rhino/Predator Reinforced Armour
Our final release to be announced this week is a set of Rhino/Predator Reinforced Armour. This popular kit has been remodelled by Will Hayes, and now features different details and optional turret armour plates so that it can also be used on the plastic Predator kit.

Designed to fit the full range of Rhino-based plastic kits, the Rhino/Predator Reinforced Armour is perfect for both adding detail and variety to a Space Marine force and also for representing the Extra Armour upgrade option.
This kit is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 28th November.

Doesn't the pintle storm bolter limit the traverse of the main guns on the predator?

OK, I've edited the post to have all the images, if you want to refresh and see. That's presuming you're workblocked or "in-country", as many of our members seem to be.

Loving the reinforced armor... just not enough to buy it. While it was out of stock I made my own from styrene and it turns out, it's easy as hell and I have virtually no styrene skills. The only parts that this seems to add that aren't easy to do on your own are the door extensions and the predator turret armor. A very nice looking kit.

Minotaurs eh.

So far as the old-school Rhino kit. I don't get it, I'm sorry. I guess it's because I haven't played for that long but the old Rhino is butt-ass ugly and I think the modern one is a huge improvement. Unless you're -playing a pre-heresy army I don't see the charm but one man's trash, etc etc. Even more befuddling to me would be getting this kit for $52 when I see the actual old style rhinos on Ebay all the time for around $20. I do really like the front lights and that is one kickass paintjob. Curiously, they don't seem to be offering the upgrade kit - just the entire model, even though it's a resin\plastic hybrid?

I do web support for a game about big stompy robots. I can DO disbelief. I have limits, though.

See? These guys can turn their turrets, even if the do have tanks treads on their butts.

That new rhino is sweet. However, if these kits are made with the normal Forgeworld quality - shrinkage and panel warpage on those side pieces will be a pain to fix.

The front lights are from the baneblade kit i think.

I'm seriously in love with that rhino. Reminiscent of the old style kit, but with the styling and detail of the current one.

I don't get the love for the "old style" models at FW prices . If I wanted an OOP rhino, I could you know, go buy one...

Can someone explain it to me?

Hey, I just noticed something. I posted earlier that I liked the headlights in the old rhino. When I looked at the kit, I realized that they aren't in the picture of the parts. I thought nothing of it, but looking again... they're also not in the pictures of the assembled, unpainted model. So now I wonder if they even actually come with the kit.

Right...... I'm guessing that was a joke.

Chapterhouse already stole the design from GW.

Not to mention, the Forgeworld kit for that price, comes with a crapload more parts then the above Chapterhouse kit and a complete rhino; at which point if you take that into account of the cost, you're paying about the same for the Forgeworld Kit of higher quality and more pieces for conversion. Hmm, I'll stick with Forgeworld, cheers.

It's not just the old style... it's the old style done better.

The general design of the original rhino kit was fine... it was the lack of detail that dates it. So FW providing a kit with the detail of the current one and the general design of the original is cool... it lets people wax nostalgic while still having models that stand up to today's standards.

Really? Mods are just advertising Chapterhouse products in other companies threads now? Is that a package that advertisers on Dakka can buy or are you just a satisfied customer who's worried that Chapterhouse just isn't being idolized enough on the site?

This. I hate the old style Rhino, but that's only because of the parts of the design that this conversion kit doesn't attempt to emulate.

I'm loving the Greek-style detailing on the Minotaurs pieces. Somewhat subtle, but quite nice.

Nope just a feeble attempt at humor. I had to laugh at GW following CH's lead.

Does CH even advertise here?

1: It was a KK joke and therefore indistinguishable from the least humorous thing since the creation of comedy.

2: The "joke" involves a picture of the CH product and a link to their site, how is that in any way distinct from advertising for them?

Hurray for Minotaur doors, Lamenters doors can only be 12 to 16 years away now!

Anyone else feel that the reinforced armor Rhino should be how bulky it should normally look?

More bulkier!

Because GW has been suing CH for ages
and CH has been dancing around the copy right line as well
