So, looking through IA Apocalypse II, I would love to buy some Hydra and Manticore platforms for my IG army, but I'm not clear about whether they have any crew. It doesn't say anything about crew, but they don't have automated firing systems like the Tarantula guns do. Help please?

Kill the mutant, burn the heretic, purge the unclean!!!!

There are just three simple rules to follow: If I charge, follow me. If I retreat, kill me. If I die, avenge me.

"A Templar Knight is truly a fearless knight and secure on every side, for his soul is protected by the armor of faith, just as his body is protected by armor of steel. He is thus doubly armed and need fear neither daemons nor men."

If those platforms have a Ballistic skill, the Ballistic skill denotes the crew firing the weapons.

if the vehicle is wrecked or exploded, the crew is assumed to be either dead or unable to function so there are no crew models shown.

I think it also depends on the rules as I could have sworn that there's an Artillery version of those rules. If in doubt look at the unit type, if its Artillery you'll be told how many crew to sit with it. If the unit type is vehicle then it's crew are part of them.

Hydras and manticores on stationary platforms are stationary vehicles, rather than Artillery unit type. Therefore crew is assumed to be inside the vehicle and doesn't need to be shown externally.

Just had to go all the way back to my original copy of IA1; it should be an immobile vehicle.

Unfortunately the writers at FW had the heads in their rectums when writing both the IA1 update and IA-Apoc2; they have written it as artillery with no crew(meaning you place it on the board, then remove it from the board as a casualty).

Just go with it as an immobile vehicle, since that is what the rules for it are(and ignore the "artillery type); Sentry guns are the same way.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Awesome, thanks.

Yeah, that's just screwy. I was thinking of adding some crew models just for looks.
