I got the necron codex and im using the tesla carbine 24" str 5 ap - i dont understand what it means ive looked all through the codex am i missing something? im guess it means it has no ap value? but i still dont understand how the guns are used if they have no ap value help a noob out :-)

AP is Armour peircing so it means if a AP 5 weapon was shot at a 5+ save guardsman he couldn't take his 5+ save AP 2 and 1 mean that no one can take saves unless they have invuns

AP - maens that you always get an armour save, as the weapon isn't good at piercing armour.

But for lazy people: You always get your armor save against it, and when damaging vehicles with the weapon, you -1 to the result.
