So my friends finally have convinced me to start playing Warmachine with them and after much discussion about it, I think I'm in. We looked at all the different factions and what I seemed to like as far as ascetics are concerned and the Mercenaries won me over, specifically the Talion Charter. So with that in mind, we sat down and made my first 25 point list as well as placed the special order for the models. Now before I really start playing (haven't yet), I wanted to get some opinions from the list that I came up with. So here it is:
Captain Phinneus Shae
Freebooter
Commodore Cannon & Crew (Commodore and 3 Crewmen)
Sea Dog Crew (Leader and 9 Grunts) w/ Mr. Walls Sea Dog Crew Quartermaster
Sea Dog Crew (Leader and 5 Grunts) w/ 1 Sea Dog Crew Rifleman
Bosun Grogspar
Dirty Meg
Doc Killingsworth
First Mate Hawk
Lord Rockbottom
Without any real understanding of the game yet (I've been given a brief synopses of the rules and how the game works as well as having watched a few games) I'm bringing to the table mostly tactics from 40k. My basic idea with this list is to keep the Commodore Cannon back with the smaller Sea Dog Crew flanking either side to provide screening for the Cannon and crew replacements for the Cannon's Crew (Cross-training FTW!). The larger Sea Dog Crew will essentially be my forward unit with support to/from Hawk, and also with Grogspar, Doc and Rockbottom slightly behind thm but keeping them all in CMD radius. Shae would also run parallel with the main group with the Freebooter Jack and upkeeping the one spell, forget which one on either himself or Hawk. Meg is the only loose end that I got for when I expand out to more Jacks, but I could run her with the sole Freebooter, just not taking control of it, for repairs. Thoughts?
