so I play one of two lists within the
BT, either the armoured company, having; 1
lrc w/ POLC termis and champ, 2 dreads, 2 10 man
cc crusaders in rhinos 2 speeders, and 2
poms vindicators; this is a pretty obvious list in how it works, not highly ctive but has enough fun elements in it to be a good game.
my second list's explaination is found on marshal learoth's blog
http://www.implausiblenature.net/ specifically here;
http://www.implausiblenature.net/bt-101-building-another-competitive-5th-edition-list.html
so I run an
EC, 2x chaplain w/ command squads (2 meltas,
CC,
DP), 2x naked dreads (
dp), 1x 5 man terminator squad (
cml,
th), 6x 5 man crusader squads (meltas,
cc,
dp), and 2x land speeders
this is a defensive drop pod
MSU (multiple small units) list, I have 10 drop pods using the old drop pod rules that allows them to come in a bit by bit starting my move phase turn two, no half come in, turn one and piecemeal deep strike after turn two.
this list gives me the ability to restrict firing lines and maneuverability on the field extremely well, i can box in tanks, and surround squads, create firing barriers, and deploy-able cover.
but read learoth's blog to get a good feel for competative templars and how defensive
msu podding works.
