Is skull white like bleached bone or is it pure white?

If you have never used skull white, be sure to water it down and use several coats. Otherwise it goes on thick and streaky.

You also need to build it up through shades of grey/blue/brown (neutral, cold and warm white respectively) to ensure a clean coat of it. Thin coats just over black will still be somewhat streaky.

Like yellow it is one of the trickier colours to pull off, but when done well looks great.

This is outright wrong.

You can work with pure skull white, however, you'll need dozens of layers, preferreably watered down pretty good.

This is the way to create the purest white. Anything else will be faster, but not nearly as good.

I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body!

How does the shading look on that technique?

I've always been told to build it up with other colours to add definition. Though haven't used other colours besides grey as I haven't really been interested in achieving either a warm or cold white.

If you want to have a real pure white it's perfect. For most freehand- or tribal-techniques on models, it's best. Real shiny.

Also, you shouldn't do just as you are told.

I know, I've just tried it out and liked the result so kept with it.
Was just curious on other techniques.

I have had success with skull white when mixing it with a just a little bit of fortress grey. Seems to make it go on better.

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

You can also easily get white by starting with Astronomican grey, then painting it white

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
