Hey Dakka

Perhaps with the recent release of the WH video game, my interest was sparked in the hobby aspect of it again. I had a handful of the original figures in the mid-80s but never progressed beyond painting them one or two colors with that old Testors paint in the small glass bottles. I was terrible at it so I lost interest. I have a bit more spare time now so I gave it another go with the starter set of 5 marines and I found that I enjoy it a bit more as my patience has also improved with maturity. Ive never played the table top game and maybe will try that one day too.

A big thanks to Dakka and those on Youtube for the positive encouragement and guidance. These are my first minis that I have ever completed. Yes, they are dipped with quickshade and Im learning to use it more effectively. My next groups of marines will be Space Wolves and Im hoping to improve upon the quality wit my highlighting/brush control skills and not relying on the dip. I learned quite a bit with these guys and compliments and suggestions are welcome.

Need to improve on how to do gems.

Tried for that 5 o'clock shadow.

Found an Ikea display case for $30. I have a long way to go to fill it up.

Un-fricken-believable. Just unbelievable. Those aren't just plastic models, they're art.

Very nicely done.

I have 3 of those cases. Amazingly handy and they look really nice, esspecially for their value. Shame that Ikea is such a nightmare to go to (at least the one near me).

LOL, a bit of a white lie ..... I'm a bit of a closet painter. Now I know who else is out there snagging anything decent off craigslist locally.

Coincidently, I have your BA thread bookmarked and use it as inspiration.

Haha, yeah I'm a closet painter as well. Only a few close friends know about my hobby, trying to explain it to others not familiar with it is usually futile. If I'd known you were a painter and a dakkaunt, I'd have shown you my BA army in person. Oh well, I generally avoid buying things from CL these days, mostly are poorly assembled/painted and not worth the extra effort. Only for metal models do I make an exception.

Anyway, keep up the progress, your first units look great for someone just getting back in. You should start up a thread in the P&M Blog section to document all your work. It will definitely help keep you motivated.
