One Canoptek Scarab in a Swarm

So, with the many and I mean MANY posts I have seen as a result of the new Codex: Necrons, here is my list. Even though I don't have the codex (yet) skimming through everyone's list gave me an idea for point costs...also thanks to Yakface for posting the rumors  here goes:

The Ghost Arks are only 115 points, dont know if thats just a typo or not, but if its not then you have 40 more points to put into those scarabs or upgrades for the 2nd lord.

I thought they were 135, the mistakes you make lacking a codex...hmm well since I don't know what are the overlord upgrades(yet) I'm not sure what I should add. Maybe add a Tachyon Arrow? 30 points!

You are definitely short scoring troops.
I don't know if the Doomsday Arks are a good fit, most of the rest of your army is about getting within 24" (warriors in Ghost Arks, Scarabs, Solar Flares). I'm wondering if a Monolith and a set of 3 Spyders wouldn't be a better fit for those heavy support slots.
Monolith would be 200 points and the Spyders without upgrades would be 150 IIRC.
As much as loosing protection from Melta weapons hurt the Monolith, melta carrying models are going to have a hard time getting within range with the rest of your army.
The Spyders are just an awesome screening and counter assault force. That, and they poop out more scarabs. I have a feeling that Spyders and Scarabs are going to be the 'Must Have's' for this Codex.

Well yeah you're right, I feel that the Doomsday Ark might give me a longer range of firing against Parking lot IG but I do think you have a point there. The question is what to drop for more troops?

Needs more troops... Also, the second overlord just seems like a points sink to get a second pulse in the list. Third, Ghost Arks just seem sooooooooooo expensive to me, especially for an open topped rhino for the most part. Yes, av 13 is sweet, but you really need more scoring units... Necrons are OK footslogging it; with RP you'll get a lot of guys back up each turn to continue trudging forward.
I'd recommend cutting the Arks, getting 2 min sized warrior units, cut the second overlord, buying 2 more HoD Crypteks, and you should have a little left over, get a couple of Spyders to beef up the scarabs (scarabs are good!)

I actually like Doomsday arks  I think Ghost Arks are just a tad expensive for what you get; especially when they cost almost as much as a 10 man warrior squad. Plus, if you fail living metal, you have to get out and slog anyway to throw your lances... just seems better to avoid it all together. But thats a personal preference; at 1500 I think 3 troops are optimal.
Anywho, I love the second list, I'd say test it a game or two and see how it does then go from there.

The Crypteks would have needed changing in the first list anyway, as you can't use multiples of the same option Automatically Appended Next Post: ie you can have multiple Harbingers of Destruction, with lances, but then the 2 upgrade options can only be taken once each

That's what the second lord was for. I think people want is the lances anyway, the solar flare is a good option for turn 1 since you can get closer to your enemies without them shooting at you or them having to get closer.
Still in my current Meta there are A LOT of mechanized IG players so STR 8 against a bunch of leman russ...

If your not going with Ghost Arks I would go with 3 groups of 12 over 4 groups of 9, but I understand you want the additional Crypt so tough call there. Maybe drop him altogether and beef up your scrarabs a bit to make up for the AT?
