I just noticed that i cant deepstrike with my warriorsquad + Tyranid prime. Is there any1 that have any good tact how to play with prime in a good way. ?? i have a plan that i can run from the table edge to my warriors that i deepstrike in the middle of the field. the problem is how to make the prime survive. or shall i skip my prime? is he worth the point or not ?
thx for answer

In the vanilla codex, the Prime is pretty much a bullet sponge, soaking up Missiles, Meltas, and Lascannons for Carnifexes or Venomthropes or whatnot.

Here is a link to the Fandex, where just 1 of the fantastic alterations allows Primes to ride in Spores like regular ICs:

one way to deepstrike them is to run them through a trygon tunnel. a bit involved....but a way to get them into a more optimal area then the board edge

It works, but it's so unreliable as to be not worth it.

You have to get your Trygon in. Then the *turn* after that you can use the tunnel - so the earliest your Prime will come on is turn 3 and that's *if* you don't roll successfully for it on turn 2.

The best use is a missile soak for Venomthropes or to give cover to Carnifexen.

if you have multiple trygons however your odds increase. and should you roll for the prime/warriors before the tunnel is available, you can always walk on... not like your loosing anything in that end anyway. not saying its a GREAT option, but it is one that may work time to time.

It's not that unreliable. On turn 2, the Trygons come in on a 3+, so you have a very good chance of at least *1* coming in. Then, just roll for the Primes afterwards. It's not ideal, but it's all you can do in the vanilla dex.

Except you can't use the tunnel until the turn after the Trygons come in. Not the same turn, no matter what order you roll for reserves.

The tyranid codex would be sooo good if they saved some small points of some of the non-trygon/tervigon MC's, put zoan into Heavy Suport and wrote decent rules for those cool abilaties like the tunnel etc.

I like the zoan in elites slot .... But I think it would be much better if rimes could take wings and join / benefit shrikes, and take a pod by itself or with a warrior unit. Lictors should be able to charge when thy show up, and the army should generally get some more reliable AT shooting. Having something like SITNW for gaunts would also be awesome.

Sadly it looks like the bugs must do without For a while longer while necrons, tau and chaos all get thier cummuffins.

Primes are great!
Easily the handiest HQ in the nid codex.

I usually keep him mid-field and join him to a unit of devourer gaunts or hive guard.
He shores up the core of my army for synapse and cant be picked out.

Also if you`ve got gargoyles or any other fast unit like shrikes? the parasite is priceless.
