Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Hey folks!

My Necrons are garden themed (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/362920.page). I have Daisy Wraiths, a Pumpkin C'Tan, Ivy Monoliths....

And my wife wants to pursue plants vs. zombies in our theme (which is a video game). The Necron warriors remain incomplete, and she wants to put helmets on them - like the zombies in the game. Traffic cones, metal buckets, football helmets....

She's never used green-stuff, and while I do a little converting, it's amateur at best and I have no skill with sculpting green-stuff. Anyone with any ideas? Anyone who thinks this is a neat project and want a job?

It sounds like a great idea Dash, but for the life of me I can't quite figure out a good way of representing zombies with Necrons. Their headgear wouldn't be too bad, but to pull it off I think you'd have to figure out how to represent their tattered clothing. Not an easy task at 40K scale.

Wouldn't lego parts work? Lego is roughly the right scale and frankly it would look good even if it'd be to big.

Can't imagine how you could do any clothing without extensive greenstuffing though.

This is a brilliant idea and you better supply many pictures.

Check out model train shops and craft shops - for stuff like cones and buckets, you just need the basic shape. I know there's a lot of buckets available in 1:35 scale WW2 kits, etc, but it might be a bit expensive (unless you cast one for personal use.)

Football helmets? Maybe email someone who makes fantasy football miniatures like the Hasslefree guys and ask if they'd be willing to sell a bunch of heads/helmets?

If you get the CC Necrons with the shield, get some fine mesh and give them screen door shields as well using sprue to make the frame probably.

Once you both get better could give a lord or something a tattered suit, glasses and a newspaper. As for the cones could get some of those 4 in 1 coloured pens and take the cone off of the end of it. All you'd need to do is add a flat base to it and fill the gap at the top.

Buckets, I'd say get some plastic tube and some fine wire. Cut the tube to size, add a flat base to it for the top and drill the sides and thread in the wire once it's glued in place to add in the handle.

For the football helmet, maybe make a ball of greenstuff and press the head into it or wrap it around the head a little. Then use fine wire to carefully add in the sort of cage they have on the front. Wait until it has set before adding the wire though.

Heroclix has a special object called: Bucket of Water that is near useless so it is fairly cheap. It's a little taller than a Space Marine head so it would probably work for you.
