Can anyone give me a quick and clean comprehensible review of the new necrons, their advantages, strenght and weakness compared to the other factions?

on the forum. Obviously

-Great mid range shooting, and has some access to powerful long range shooting (though they are limited)

-Pretty Durable

-Excellent Vehicles

-Have access to plenty of wargear that disrupts the enemy (Mindshackle scarabs, tremorstaves, entropic attacks, chronometron, guass, tesla...)

-Really, really bad at CC, with one or two possible exceptions

In other words, pretty much like they were before, just more choices...

Oh that too.

I've been so relieved that that's gone I completely forgot about it.

Such a stupid rule...

The army has a similar flavor as before, you have to be smart in order to do well, but you can do VERY well with the options presented.

Its a very, very, durable army. If you put the squishy in vehicles you can take a tremendous amount of punishment.

I've played a couple of games against new Necrons with Eldar, and warriors/immortals turned out to be surprisingly durable in cc. Certainly not good, but can tie units (even cc specialists like Striking Scorpions) up in combat for a while. Same for scarabs, which are also cheap and ES makes them one of best value options.

Flayed ones, on the other hand, are absolutely dreadful - I love the old models but they're not going to see much action now...

Lychguard and Triarchs are just too expensive for what they bring - 5 poor cc models for the price of a monolith? No thanks!

Otherwise what's been said is pretty much bang on - more choice, some good options and more a force to be wielded with skill rather than just marching warriors behind monoliths. Should make games against and with Necrons more fun, which is the point, yes?
