So, my amry for Vanilla Marines is Red, Blood Ravens. My local store, where I play has house rules that allow any Chapter to take a BA Stormraven, so I have one, which I normally use. So now I have red Vanilla Marines with a Redf Raven who are apparently BA!

My friend uses Black and Gold SW because he likes the codex, not for WAAC reasons, he just likes the way it works. people asume he id Chaos Marines, Black Legion!

Has this ever happened to you or a person you know?

I play Aurora Chapter. I carefully paint the Chapter Symbol on every marine, and adhere to squad markings on every unit.

I play Guard.

I play Guardians of the Covenant, which is mostly red and silver. Back in the Day, I also ran a unit of Grey Knight Terminators and a couple of Grey Knight squads with them, so people often assumed the whole army was Grey Knight. I dunno, can't tell the differences between Boltgun and Mithral Silver...

I play multicoloured Emperor's Children, so... no. Though the Alpha Legion section or my collection sometimes makes this happen.

None of my armies get mistaken for other armies, though once i get my DE painted they might get mistaken for an established kabal..

My orks....look like orks The clan colours are pretty distinct, and they don't tend to paint up different for different waaghs..

My Daemons are a bit hard to mistake for anything else

My DE are unpainted as yet (deciding on a scheme)


I have a small BT force, but they're distinctive enough to avoid paintjob confusion issues.. love that Templar scheme

It's mostly an IOM problem, tho CWE from obscure craftworlds do catch it from time to time..

I I guess it is mostly a MEQ problem, but craftworlds and Kabals could get confused. Nids and Orks tend to not have the Problem.

My IG friend uses "Tanith" Guard, but people keep calling them Tallarn Desert Raiders, me included.

Do they look awesome in a Lawrence of Arabia kind of way, and cost way way too much money?

No, they look like yellow Cadians with Green Stuff, camo cloaks, and badly made ones at that. And they cost a fiver for 20 off Ebay.

I have some fairly old Space Wolves in my collection, dating back to the Eye of Terror campaign. So naturally, I have a couple squads of 13th Company Grey Slayers that I run as Grey Hunters. In case you don't know, the 13th Company scavenges Chaos equipment to replace their losses. This, coupled with my black and red colour scheme for my Wolves has led a lot of people to think that I play Chaos. It's happened enough that I even have a default response: "They're 13th Company".

I get asked what army i play all the time, but that is mostly cause I play BT and it is only mostly black ATM (fixing that this week actually). This happens because of the all black primer that is my main color, lol.

I play Iron Warriors using C:SM, so 90% of the time I use them, I get asked where my obliterators or daemon princes are. It's understandable, at least.


It's rather shocking how many people see blue marines (My crimson fists) and assume it's Ultramarines. It's not even the same colour of blue! And the bright red hands!

I take a ton of flak for painting my Tau in catchan green and terracotta. Everyone says "They look like guard"
I just tell them jungle camo is jungle camo. For any race.

Tell them their army looks like Ultramarines. Extra points if their army is actually Ultramarines.

I think it's because the FT are basically halfway to Khorne worship anyway. May as well be Chaos.

I play Ulthwe-esque Eldar with the whole BlackxBone thing, with purple details.

About a year or so ago I'd constantly get asked if I was playing DE.

My chaos marines once got mistaken for Tau. Upon closer inspection, the person explained to me he was colorblind.

I also realized at my Tau were looking a little too much like a Farsight force (I like the "Greater Good" over the "Bigger Blade" fluff wise), so I started using more gold over gray.

People think my mantis warriors are salamanders, and my Lamenters are imperial fists. But nobody has any clue what my executioners are. Add in my tiger claws and I have Huron Blackheart's Red Corsairs. But I'm an old head, and proud of it!
