Here we have my wip thread for the great unclean one. I've never took on a model like this and i've got to say its daughting both in size and detail it really is a master piece.

30mins with an airbrush just precolouring the skin.

Yeah he's a big brute wasn't ment to start this guy till next month but the dread im doing is driving me mental need a little break from it.

Its been done. Miniwargaming.com-Mrdee-page9 of his WIP thread. Its honestly joint 1st most stunning version of this model ever has a hairy back too real skin crawling stuff.

Im having a bit of an issue with him. Although i washed scrubbed left to dry then repeated it again the paint is still comming off in huge chunks much swearing but i think i know the fault. I used really horrible cheap nasty rubber gloves to handle him thinking it would cut down grease going from skin to him. I've noticed it's leaving really fine powder all over him that disolves in water. Im going to try saving him first with a coat of varnish then re painting the chipped off chunks as its so early on hopefully its hidden away as i really dont want to risk damaging him stripping him down to start again with different gloves.

Are you planning on darkening the purples areas? This will increase the contrast and I think make it pop more.

Yeah currently the purples are only precoloured to work out placement and if the way i see it in my head looks right on the model. The purple will go almost to black then suddenly to grey where the dead skin would be. The kommando khaki parts are likely to go lighter and darker.

This is looking great! well done, i always love seeing how people do this guy as he has such scope for disgustingly realistic details! :-) the shades and colour choices you are using are excellent, I will watch with much anticipation to see how he progresses!

Added some very slight zenital will be amazed if you see it but its quite appatent in person. Added a touch more pink ness and im begining to blend it up to purple. (now i've actually worked out how an airbrush works!!!)

Next stage is on. Next is re painting the red in the sores and wounds highlights in the wounds and finally straight to grey for dead skin on the edges. I've still to work out what im doing with the sores and blisters. But the more i think about it the more i think i like the eye idea. Think bright blue eyes. Or cat eyes with the slits suit him.

I remember helping my friend paint one of these when he got one. Those intestines are really hard to do right, it took the two of us about three hours and I'm secretly unsatisfied with the job we did.

Im dreading that bit already. I actually wish now i did them first blue tacked over the top then did the rest. The detail in there is unbelieveable. Did you notice the nurgling trying to crawl out?

Yeah, it's just his hands. A picture on the FW site is one thing, but you cannot appreciate the fine details until you're holding the model in your hand. You got to have a good detail brush or the whole thing's going to be a nightmare.

Check the guts on this fella then!

I should point out its coinsidence these are the same ish colour. Although i am thinking of copying bohans conversion its stunning.

Base colouring the big beastie is nearly done.

Not sure on the guts just yet but please remember thats going to be the darkest colour going up through grey.

Those horns look like they were a living hell to paint with all those grain-lines

I've actually not started the horns thats just overspray from airbrushing. The horns will actually be fairly easy the cracks are fairly deep so just thin washes will sort those out with a little layer blending on the rest.

I think its too blue and too in your face. I might try seeing what it looks like starting from codex grey.
