Couple of things I noticed with the power sword: 1) it's a bit crooked 2) I think your power effect would look really great if you went over a few of the electric bolts again (or if you have the brush control to take a super fine brush and did a thinner line inside the one you have now)

I use vallejo white to get a smooth white, the bone effect is done with a base of chestnut brown, Reaper master series,
GW bleached bone dry brush, a
GW sepia wash followed by a white highlight. I've been very happy with the results.
The commander took a horrible tumble to the floor right before the pic was taken. I actually cropped out the paint chip at the end of his sword, so I will be repainting it and will try some of your suggestions.
