State of confusion

Hello DakkaDakka,

I have been lurking around here for about a year and I have finally taken the plunge and posted. I have been an avid gamer for about 20 year but took time off to raise a family. Little time for painting when you have an active kid. Well now the kids grown up and it's time for me to start up again on my favorite hobby. I am currently working on rebuilding my Dark Angel Army that I started years ago. Here are a few of my HQ types I am working on.

This is the new force commander I am working on, I have to add his combi-melta/bolter and his back pack and finish his base.

This is my librarian, he needs to have his base completed and dull spray coat.

This is my tech marine, he needs his back pack finished along with his base and a dull coat spray.

I will update this thread once I have some more progress on my leaders. Questions and comments are welcome. Looking forward to joining the community.

Welcome back

Nice bone color you've acheived on the shoulder, and great, crisp whites! I like it!

Couple of things I noticed with the power sword: 1) it's a bit crooked 2) I think your power effect would look really great if you went over a few of the electric bolts again (or if you have the brush control to take a super fine brush and did a thinner line inside the one you have now)

Good luck!

Thanks Bunnygurl, I think the Librarian is the best figure I have ever painted, he inspired me to post.

I use vallejo white to get a smooth white, the bone effect is done with a base of chestnut brown, Reaper master series, GW bleached bone dry brush, a GW sepia wash followed by a white highlight. I've been very happy with the results.

The commander took a horrible tumble to the floor right before the pic was taken. I actually cropped out the paint chip at the end of his sword, so I will be repainting it and will try some of your suggestions.

Thanks for the feedback hope to have some more to post soon.

Skullee welcome and it's good to see another fellow Dark Angels collector. I know what you mean about kids. My hobby took a back seat for years.
Well once again welcome and hit me up if you need any tips with your army.

I am working on a few Tyranids for a friend, he chose the color scheme, waiting on local hobby store to get some flowers small enough for the base.

i like the color contrast. Let me know what you think.
