Well as the title suggests I quit 40k , Warhammer etc at the age of 16 when women, beer and image were far more important to me than a hobby involving painting "little men". 15 years later aged 31 and working as a teacher I have got back into painting as part of a school club. Also a great bonus for me has been he stress relief and relaxation I find from painting these days !
I am collecting, converting and painting Dark Eldar and would welcome a few hints and thoughts on my work. I actually laughed when I found some of my old minis as my painting standard has improved 3 - 4x in my time out. Shows what the internet and some time to mature can really give this hobby.

Anyway, here is a link to my work and enjoy

Welcome to Dakka! Had a quick look at your painting and I have to say they look pretty good to me, they've got a kind of earthy realistic look to them. Good stuff

Be glad you missed 3rd and 4th edition. They were horrible if you came in with 2nd.

Until then... I have my plastic dudes...

Welcome back to the hobby. I got out of it in 1999 and came back in 2009. A lot has changed but the things I enjoyed the most (modeling, camaraderie, etc) are still going strong.

Checked out your work and I like your painting style. Hope to see more from you.

Have fun on Dakka, maybe see you around somewhere.

Hey, welcome back to 40k and welcome to Dakka! Your thread title kinda sounds like a punchline to a joke. After failing to make up a joke around it, I thought I'd just drop by and also say "hello".

Quite true. I kind of liked 4th edition though, if only for fixing the worst things. While 3rd edition was somewhat like someone whacking you on the head with a hammer between 1998 and 2005(?), 4th edition was like the person still whacking you on the head but with a slightly smaller hammer.
