Subject: Opinions on a supply drop pod?

For anyone who has played Space Marine, the game, does anyone rercall the first instance that you recieve a JP in the campaign?
[spoilers]You get a drop pod containing the Pack[/spoilers]
What would be people's opinion on rules for a supply pod? I plan to make it in this thread. What I am currently planning to do is buy a Drop Pod as a Fast Attack choice, seeing as that is ther most under used section, and give it the option of buying equipment like up to 3 bikes, up, to 12/10 JP. Any infanrty model can embark on them. When they do, if they are in PA or Artificer Armour, they can equip a JP, counting as having one for the remainder of the game. If they are wearing any armour other than TDA they can get a SM Bike.
Other ideas include weapons, replacing one you are carrying, ammo, suchs as extra clips( X2 shots once per game after collection), and Special Ammo, and Armour/Equivilents, such as embarking and replacing your Artificer Armour with TDA, or picking up an Iron Halo.

It's a cool idea, but it would mean a lot of magnetising/ having to buy two different sets for one unit :/

For a scenario based game I say hell yeah, but for a regular game of 40K I say no. It will be too confusing to follow in a regular game.

You could put a scrap of paper by the squad.

True, but that would lessen the effect somewhat...

I don't like the bike/jump packs dea because it would be too clunky imho.
However a supply pod that is assumed to contain extra ammo, guns, etc. could be easily represented by giving any models within 2" from a chosen unit twin-linked shots for a round.
It would also be easily to convert said pod with ammo crates and weapon racks inside, etc.
I'd make it one use and keep it cheap. I'd allow 1-3 supply pods to be bought as a single F. Attack choice at "x" points each (not sure what cost of a round of TL should be).

This is a good idea - squadroned (not really a word xD) drop pods.
I reckon they should stay 35pts each and have the upgrades that drop pods get normally (teleport homer and the missile launcher thing).
Scattered across the battlefield, able to accurately bring down terminators and supplying an accurate gunline to support them? Sounds pretty awesome to me.

Supply drop pods could make great objectives.

This would make some great house rules, but in the actual game it would be confusing. I can definitely see this in a campaign though, that would make some interesting strategies...

kind of like cities of death holding ammo caches and such
to the OP
I like the idea. But how does this sound short of scenario... objectives contain that kind of upgrade. Use drop pods for objectives. Say one pod allows the squad to take a few bikes, or retrieve jump packs after they hold them for a full turn or 2 (amount of time to equip said gear)
... i like it, and will probably make up a campaign using this. Nice idea.
