Hi people

I'm working on some Dark Eldar Ravagers and Raiders and want to do a rune on the prow of them. I was wondering if i could get away with using a dry wipe marker to mark outline of the rune. I'm just worried it soak into the paint and never come out?

I just wanted to know if anyone has tired it or has a better idea?

You might as well just get a paint pen and draw the rune on. It doesn't have to be with a brush to be legit.

You should try it on some scrap pieces.

The plan for the dry wipe marker was that if I make a mistake while drawing I can wipe it off. The vehicles are all airbrushed and I cant cover up the mistake with a brush later.

The runes will be different colours too.

I'm scared :(

Give it a try on some bits or plasticard.

Ok i'll have a go on an old model. I'm hoping that it coming out of an airbrush and being mixed with paint thinner/alcohol wont make it behave differantly to applying to brushed paint

I agree test it on something else first, but I would try coating the area you are going to put the run on with gloss varnish first. Once the run is done. Coat it with matte varnish to get rid of the shine. My biggest concern would be that the marker is going to bleed when you put on the top coat.

You could also get some printable transfer paper and print the runes, then apply them to the helmet using micro-set.

Use a very sharp very fine point pencil & very lightly sketch it on, if the model's already varnished the pencil should rub off just fine.

Practicing on an old model or scrap material is never a bad idea, but varnishing the model in question first will give you some added insurance, as wet paint, marker, or pencil can be wiped off, with the assistance of some isopropyl alcohol, if necessary.

I use isopropyl to strip my plastic i might have a go with an engineer pencil then, thanks!

I'll have a go with dry wipe when i have time though I think if it works it'd be useful. I'm just betting it'll be soaked up though
