I am finally getting around to starting my Black Templar army, and have been thinking about the neophytes. For the standard initiate they have purity seals, and all that fun stuff.

but, do neophytes have that as well? or are they just standard space marine scouts with the emblem on the shoulders.

Neophytes are just like scouts, but they don't get bonuses from the EC. They do benefit from crusader seals, but that's because any unit benefits if even one model in the squad has them. You can put purity seals on, as they don't actually change anything-those are all about taste. Not sure if initiates/neophytes can take crusader seals, as I just throw them on the character who is joining the unit and have them gain the ability that way.

I would not put and seals on the neos. Fluff wise, they are the lowest and only exist to serve their initiate. They are looked down upon until they are promoted to be a battle brother.
