Simple question. Do they have any and what do they look like.

Seem like they should be all over the bionics but I can't think of any examples.

The main cybernetic implants mentioned is the hardwired interfaces (drone controler and such ) it may be that Tau medicine is advanced enough that limbs are replaced with organic replacements rather than mechanical.

Tau codex specifically states the use of cybernetics, with Hardwired wargear being a primary example.

Haven't seen much in the way of artwork or modelling to reflect this - then again most Tau models don't have exposed body parts to look at.

Tau that have lost a limb probably actually get to retire unlike the Imperium. Silly Aliens.

According to the Tau Codex pg.9 in the paragraph about Fire caste, it states other than a commander who upon acheiving that rank and serving for 4 years is eligible for retirement, that and death are the only ways out, so it seems Tau medicine must be pretty good at patching up its soldiers.
More like it is as KamikazeCanuck stated perhaps a career ending injury, at this point its hard to tell, maybe when the new codex comes out we will get a bit more indepth fluff

I am leaning towards the advanced medical take, limbs can be regrown or vat grown, so full cybernetic replacement is not required. IMHO of course.

I forget where exactly it is in the current codex, but I remember hearing that by the time a Tau becomes Commander he would have accumulated many scars and some biotics. That wasn't the direct quote however biotics were definitely mentioned.

It's likely that Tau cybernetics aren't as bulky and crude as the imperium's so aren't as glaringly obvious. Replacement limbs could be under their uniforms, and replacement eyes could look real enough that it doesn't need to represented on the models.

Most of that bulkiness is for the normal people meaning everyone not Mechanicus that I speculate that if one is high rank enough or has the money can have their artificial limbs have different shapes like instead of hands, one has claws etc. Vat grown organ replacement do exist and are primarily utilized by the more biologically oriented Mechanicus whereas everyone else wants to become more machine hence the bulky look etc.

Stated by Grey Templar:The Ward of the Codices
"It began, with the writing of the Great Codices,
2 were given to the Eldar. Immortal, Capricious, and most farsighted of all,
2 also to Chaos. Traitorous, Deceitful, Servants of the Dark Gods,
3 to the Xenos races. T'au, Orks, and Necrons. the Young, the Beast, and the Spiteful,
7 to the race of men. Servents of the God Emperor, the Inheritors of the Galaxy.

But they were all of them, decieved. for another Codex was written…
In the Land of Ward'or, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Matthew wrote in secret, a Master Codex, to rule all the others. One by one, all the armies of the other Codices fell to the power of the Codex, and from this Darkness, none could see hope.

But there were some, who resisted. a Last Alliance of Men and Xenos took up arms against the forces of Ward'or and on the Slopes of Mount Doom they fought for the freedom of 40k."

Also, many augmetics in the Imperium are not designed for the person currently wearing them. That augmetic arm might be 400 years old, and designed to fit a man eight inches taller and a hundred pounds heavier... or maybe it was originally for a simian servitor. Or a forklift.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I imagine the Tau Empire has extremely advanced bionics and prosthetics. They're not featured into the game for lack of effort/caring on GW's part.

Perhaps Firewarriors injured past the point of medical help commit some sort of ritual suicide via sword or dagger, similar to samurai, hari kari?
They're already stylized and given some fluff similar to samurai, bonding rituals, castes, etc...

Tau have them, but in some minor way. They are not used like they are in the Imeprium ( Techpriest, Iron Hands.... )

I remember reading that bionics (open ones like the Space marines and Techpriests) are looked down upon.

PM me if you want me to draw anything related to Warhmmer 40k. I will put it in my gallery for all to see.

They probably have mechanical augments but i bet they aren't shown cause GW did'nt design them yet. Maybe it's better that way though, now people can portray it however they want if they want to do conversions

I remember reading they needed some sort of implanted interface to control the crisis suits properly as they sort of plug into it.

At the end of the novelization for "Fire Warrior," La'Kais has sustained significant injuries including, IIRC the loss of limbs. The Fio'la believe he may pull through this if he has the strength of will to do so, and it was implied that he would be receiving implants to make him whole again of an unremembered (and possibly unmentioned) type. His injuries were quite severe, but he was still expected to have a decent chance to retake his position on the line.

In the current age we can do some amazing things with prosthetics. I would not be surprised to learn that the Tau, if unable to graft cloned limbs back onto a body, could certainly provide prosthetics capable of looking largely natural with no outward appearance discernable through the uniform.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.
